    Good morning,

Many of you will remember a fantastic item we used to have, which offered a lot of fun moments and was also balanced. The Pirate Pact. For those of you who have forgotten, or did not play when these items were available, you could buy a Pirate Pact for (if I remember correctly) 500 Pearls in the Market Cove. The level requirement was then changed Level 5 and below, as they were designed to help smaller players, and then removed from the game completely. (The item was removed for sale, I am not sure if it was taken from the game code and/or stripped from players ships who did have them).

What this item did was summon an NPC to assist you. It was an item in your amulet menu and when pressed, would spawn a Privateer with (again, I think) 200k HP and it hit around 500 Damage. The damage was fairly negligible but I think it would be great to buff them a little to scale with upgrades over the years, maybe to still 200k HP and hit 5k damage and bring them back. Below are some advantages and unconventional uses of the Pirate Pacts:

    • Taking Islands - Everybody knows now that with the speed that guild towers repair, it is difficult to take an island even with just a few people defending, as as soon as a tower is not being shot, somebody will go into the island underlight and repair it, and before you know there is another 50m HP back on it. The Privateers would be a lot of fun as you could leave them shooting towers, meaning they would not repair unless an enemy sunk them.
    • Fighting - Although in a fight, the damage is fairly negligible and wouldn't be worth using, if in a stack fight of 20v20+, if one side all dropped a Privateer as they came in, it would be like people used to use snowmen to make the stack harder to lock on.
    • Farming - Again, although the damage is low, they could be used to help edge that little bit more damage to get most damage for a ranking, or on smaller NPCs they could be used to hold an NPC where it is for a bit to give you time to finish your current one and change over to that one.
    • Admirals / Large Event Ships - Although this is not so much a problem for big players, to help small players out they could bring out these Privateers which would shoot their event ship, meaning if they get sunk off, they will have a bit more time to get back to the ship or find it easier so it does not repair.
    • Guild Affiliation - With the introduction of Guild Affiliation systems such as Island NAPs and Fleets, Pirate Packs should be assigned to your guild when they spawn, so they will not be shot by Cadocs and will also shoot any enemy-assigned Players on sight, assuming they are not already attacking a target.

My idea for the balancing of the Pirate Pacts is as follows:
    • Requirement - Level 5 Pirate and Above
    • Price - 1'000 Pearls per Pirate Pact
    • HP - 200,000
    • Damage - 5,000
    • Reload Speed - 5 Seconds
    • Duration - 30 Minutes or until sunk
    • Cooldown - 5 Minutes
    • Quantity - You can use 2 Pirate Pacts at a time. Using a 3rd will cause the 1st one to disappear, rather than failing to be used.
    • Reward for sinking - None
    • Battle Points - You will receive no battle points if you Privateer sinks an enemy.
I think it would be great to bring these items back to the game, they were so much fun to mess around with and I remember so many laughs on TeamSpeak around these. I am not sure why these were removed, but if you like the idea please vote to bring these back to the game.

    Many thanks,

    ~Des

Privateers idea was to help new players to start the game not for big players to get more pearls in events or fight with them. So it would be nice to see new players using privateers and playing the game because this game don't really get any new players.

Hi aaa, I do agree that that is the intention behind the item. The sole purpose should be to help smaller players, but to be honest I don't think that larger players would benefit from them in a farming way so much anyway as I expect the damage they deliver wouldn't pass the pearls through to the user. They would be more beneficial for smaller players, but they larger players would still gain some benefit in various other situations.

Spot on, Des. Without helping the newer or smaller players, participants in Seafight may eventually and quite understandably become extinct!

David Attenborough would certainly agree with this sentiment.:)
