I read that 4 billion was the most a player could have on his boat. This was quite a long time ago though. Has the limit been raise to about 4 trillion. That would explain the round the clock mega billion dollar bids we see day in and day out. So is this true?

I don't think there is any limit anymore... Seen a lot of player who bid hundreds of millions on the market nowadays, even level 2 newbies who for sure has had those with some glitch or something like that.
Have had more than 4 billions on board myself so for sure more than that.

At one point, with all of the gold-botting software out (I assume they use something), the max I could cap was 2.1 billion. This was back when you could only cap a boat once per hour. Now I ended up capping 2 more boats the same day for the same 2.1 billion, so I had around 6 billion on board. I bid off 2 billion before logging, but before I could go down further the next day, I logged in and found out that BP locked my account for 30 days because of my gold. Obviously I raised a stink over it, but they wouldn't change their posture. So I legally capped 3 illegal boats and I got banned. That makes good sense right?

It is an answer to the player's questions. He said: I read that 4 billion was the most a player could have on his boat. That wasn't the case back then in my case, so surely not now either. I still get some caps over 1 billion every once in a while (and bid , buy hollows, or both very quickly). It is also a warning to him not to carry large amounts of gold on his boat. Anything else?

Love it when you two argue in the forum, just sit here in the morning with my cup of tea and read away, great fun! In all seriousness, there is no limit as to how much gold could be held, and there never has been any physical limit. Support will however ban or remove the gold from an account that is seen to have an "inappropriate" amount. I would assume this is around 5-10b upwards, unless they can see a legitimate source, i.e. Payout from a major guild that clearly has not had a gold bot on in it, or from shooting NPCs. I have known a group of players to find an "afk" boat that had a large amount of gold on it, and all get 10+ caps of 2.1b each (For anybody interested, the significance of the 2,147,483,647 cap is that it is the largest obtainable number in 32-bit binary). All the accounts were banned for 30 days and the gold removed, which goes to show that legally boarding a boat, knowing that it has the gold and not reporting it, is enough to get you banned yourself.

and that's the problem you get banned for capping large amts. of gold but the boat you capped does not for carrying large amounts

In this case, the account that had the gold and was being boarded was banned and the gold was entirely removed from both the account and the "gold guild" it was in. Each of the players had their bans removed, along with the gold they had captured. If you come across an account like this, then you should leave the gold on your account. Do not spend it. Write to support and give them the ID of the gold boat, and ask for them to remove the gold. Many times players have done this, they have actually been allowed to keep the gold for their honesty. However do not take my word for that lol!
