With absolute respect more items than this are needed if Bigpoint wish to attract new players to stimulate and envigorate this game. It is a very welcome start below, but please rethink the fact that these items will very soon be consumed.

You seriously need to think deep and hard over which items new players should be able to try and provide them with more to help them to get their feet on the ladder. Otherwise I believe they will join, then quickly use these items amost immediately, then lose interest once they consider this game will cost, then sadly not bother spending anymore.

In an effort to make things a little easier for all of you new players, the following items will be placed on all new accounts made:
    • Level 1 Carpenter
    • 10 x Iron harpoons
    • 10 x 30-pounder
    • Aeroctopoda
    • 3.000 x Pearls
    • 2 x Spirit sails
    • 35.000 x Gold
    • 200 x Chain ammunition
    • 100.000 x Hollow ammunition.
    • 1 x Tamer's Booty Bag.
    • 50 x Crystals.
    • 50.000 x Explosive ammunition.
    • 4 x Gaff Sail.
    • 500 x Steel harpoons.
    • 1 x Lord's Booty Bag.
    • 168 x Pirate Protection.
    • 14 days premium

168 x pirate protection? Is that 168 days without anybody can attack them? If so, that should give them a chance to build a decent ship.

I think the protection only last until they reach Level 6, and it is broken every time you attack anything so it's only really useful for shiny hunting.

Personally I think new players need to be given better items too. Perhaps something like 50 Voodoo Cannons Level 0, and 100 Level 0 60 Lbs? The gem bags I think should be improved. The level I agree with as for a starting player these will be the right level but I think adding a few more bags is important. Countless players will end up getting their only gems as boarding bonus, harpoon damage, voodoo points and other worse gems that won't really help them in the early game as much as Cannon Damage and Critical Damage (better for NPCs early game) would offer.

How about a real tasty time limited opportunity for new players.o_O

Provide new players with a free time limited medium level heavily equipped ship for a trial period of just One month. This may attract new players by being able to experience what a half built up ship is capable of, it may help them to decide what motives there may be for continuing to play the game and hopefully to eventually develop their own fully built up ship once their trial period has expired?

Bigpoint and other players have little or nothing to lose, and hopefully may even gain once the player decides to either stay or leave after their trial ship expires.

So would this be like a set 2 week period where players can make these trial ships, or would anybody be able to make one at any time but only have it for a maximum of 2 weeks? I'm just trying to think about the potential risk of existing players abusing this and creating lots of these accounts and using the free ammo to attack islands all day. It would come down to how BigPoint decide to implement it in the end, but as long as it is balanced I think it's a great way of introducing players.

No, I am thinking of a month's use of a half developed ship, say level 15 or whatever is deemed appropriate that is equipped with as much, or more ammo etc than could be reasonably exhausted within this trial period time. The equipment would have to be decided on by the developers of course i,e what type or level of Cannon are held in storage and on castles, skills etc.

The ship would resemble your typical half built ship on average and this would be a means of showing new players what it is capable of which hopefully might give then a taste of developing their own ship from scratch, once the trial period has expired and the boat removed.

Really like the idea. The only issue I was thinking was if a guild decided to make 20 of these ships each for example and then go and attack an island with 100+ half-built ships and infinite ammo, it could do some real damage. We've seen on the UK server as I am sure you are aware that exactly this can do a huge deal of damage. Perhaps just make it so these ships would be unable to attack towers. That aside, the idea seems great to me!

Good point. Perhaps the ability to attack any island would need to be very limited in time, or removed altogether in fairness. I like the idea to encourage new players, but any matters such as this would need thoroughly thinking through so that it could not affect what the game position has currently reached, in fairness to islands and existing guilds.

Sounds good to me, then that way players could try everything out without much scope for exploitation as far as I can see. I mean sure guilds could still make loads of ships but they're not really useful unless used for an island attack. Somebody playing 10 ships of that level to try and get an advantage would probably find it too hard to keep on top of anyway.

Honestly, I feel like this should be updated.

For a start, I wonder, why are the giving player 2 spirit sails, then giving them 4 gaff sails...

Should be a couple of months of premium. Level 3 Repair Mate, Level 1 Commander, 1 Emperor's and Beastmasters Booty Bag not the lower levels, a lot more starting gold, better starting cannons, elite ship, cabin boys, cannon loader to level 3 or 4 or so, most of the "elite crew", possibly even a Commonwealth Guardian or Sellsword Level 1 for a week or two so they can really progress without being hit so hard.

No that is 168 hours (7 days), which can be increased by doing the quests/tests.

I think the 1x Emperor's and 1x Beastmaster bags should be replaced with 3x Kings Booty Bag and 3x Kennelmaster's Booty Bag (I think that's the middle one?). Just because it means the player is less likely to get unlucky and gain no gems that actually help them at that stage.

My opinion, the idea is great but, they still need to make lower maps back to PVE{?} You get sunk just getting your login!

The only way seafight can be fixed is if BP is actually serious about fixing the problems.

I Like some of the new stuff they've done, but it simply is just not enough. They need to do a lot more. The main thing as i've said is to fix the PvP, and I don't know how they would go about doing that. It's a mess they got themselves into, same with the bot situation.

It's sad because it's not that most of the players that quit were bored of seafight, it's that BP straight up ruined the game. They dug themselves into a deep hole by ignoring botters and taking the p2w side of the game too far.

Seafight was a great game, it can be again. It's just a question if BP will ever be serious about addressing the core issues.

There is a glimpse of hope with some of the new levels and pearl NPC's, but that is about it.
