Why did you change the balance of pearls to ignis ammunition on the Alphonse? You had a good event going, and as usual, you changed it to the worse.

 

Once again, this event proves that the developers do not play the game themselves and have no clue what so ever what the players want. I have a high level ship my selves and there is a huge loss in pearls by shooting the event ships and so fare, I have only found souls in event chests, not in a single NPC?

This is just not good enough BP and a direct insult to your loyal players.

 

the soul eater ammounition doesnt make damage on event npc just ignis ammo does is that a bug?

no thats not a bug , Soul Eater ammo do more damage on Undead npcs ( with mean 2nd phase of the event ). Right now the only ammo with damage boost over event npcs is Ignis.

Okay...I have been shooting ships awhile and.....how do I get Cursed Souls? (I got 128 Radiants right off the bat). UPDATE: Still not one Cursed Soul!

 

By the way, with no Cabin Boys available (especially *for pearls* before it was messed up), this Event is sunk before it starts!

 

The cursed souls come with the ships in the second phase, the cursed ones. At least according to today's version of the FAQ.

 

I've now shot at least one of each ship for this phase of the event, so here's a review of my results. Note that I have the level 1 Sellsword and 127% hit prob (seems like enough to get the max hit on the lower ships, but not the admiral).

Vain Alphonse
1 mill HP
Cost: 1500-1600 Ignis at lower price = 1500-1600 pearls
Reward: 2700-3200 pearls or 1100-1300 Ignis plus 14-15 useless armor plates
Conclusion: The pearl rewards are a profit, but the Ignis rewards are a loss. If you get pearl rewards more often than Ignis rewards you can make some profit.

Perfumed Odette
5 mill HP
Cost: 7500-8000 Ignis (pearls same)
Reward: 3900-4200 Soul Eater, pearls are a possible reward but i never got them.
Conclusion: Waste of time unless the pearl rewards are real good and you are lucky to actually get them.

Graceful Marcelle
12 mill hp
Cost: 18000-19000 Ignis (pearls same)
Reward: I only shot one along with others doing ~25% of the damage. I got 25 Radiant Souls and 1 event key.
Conclusion: Not worth it for me, if the pearls are better it might be worth it.

Fat Jacques
1.5 mill hp (I think about that didn't write it down)
Cost: variable. You can shoot with hollows but that would take forever. Call it at least 2000 Ignis/pearls.
Reward: 390 pearls, 4 radiant souls, 2 Surgeon's Visage
Conclusion: Only worth shooting if they are interrupting you from shooting the admiral.

Merciful Admiral
300 mill hp
Cost: I shot ~60k Ignis, so 60k pearls
Reward: 67k pearls, 5 contact mines
Conclusion: Small profit but burns through the ammo you could have used on the Vain Alphonse

Event Ship Conclusion: The only ship with a chance at any meaningful profit is the Vain Alphonse.

Quests
Doing the quests to maximize rewards for the ships took some of the sting out, but not much. I've done the first 4, up to doing 12 mill damage to the admiral for 1500 pearls and 8 radiant souls. In a word, these are only worth doing if you plan to shoot the ships anyway. The next quest in the line involves sinking or damaging all of the ships for a terrible <2k pearl reward.

All the above consumed all of my Ignis ammo; 10k from before the event plus the 100k from the black market. With the marginal rewards I have no intention of buying any of the double priced ammo. So I'm done with phase 1 of this event. If phase 2 isn't any better, I won't do much of it either. After I've used the 80k Soul Eater ammo from the voucher I'll know if its worth buying more of that ammo (15k pearls for 10k ammo).

Its sad, because I recall making good profit from this event last year. And that was with half the cannons and they were weaker cannons and I had only a bit over 100% hit prob.

I wonder then why it still shows this:

The player who does the last shot receives Pearls, Soul eater ammunition or Cursed souls.
· Putrid Odette:
o Must be shot with elite ammunition.
Depending on how much damage you´ve inflicted you are rewarded with Pearls, Cursed Souls or Soul eater ammunition.

My Logbook shows:

Maybe you have to shoot a ton of them to get any Cursed Souls? I have zero.

 

An excellent synopsis for those of us trying to test out this Event. Thanks once again mate for all of this detailed information!

 

The Event Chests are the only thing I find good, but if you want to really benefit from them, then you will have to pay cash for a Key pack in the Payment Section. I might....or I might not. (Even if you have a ton of pearls, the key buying limits in the Black Market will restrict your booty). Here are some of the items I have received so far:

Thank you for that information! Yes - something is just not right. Our Black Market shows items for purchase that require both Radiant and Cursed Souls. I do not understand why they would do that if Cursed Souls are virtually impossible to find! I cannot buy anything because I can't get the Cursed Souls.
