How do Powders and new Skills work?

The description of powders says this:
"Black gunpowder increases your hit chance and critical damage.
+10% Hit Probability
+10% Critical Damage"

The skill says this:
"Powder Punch
Placing Skill Points in this Skill will increase your Black Gunpowder Bonus."

The old skill used to add a damage %. Does the new skill only increase the hit prob and crit damage? Is the extra damage fro powders no longer available in the new skills?

I think its +10% hit probability now so if your up to 100% or over it wont make any difference.

+10% hit probability
always thought these were +10% damage, so another item made useless

Firstly, my apologies for the delay in answering this thread.

As mentioned, the item Black Gunpowders provide 10% Hit Probability and 10% Critical Damage.

The Skill "Powder Punch" provides Black Gunpowder Bonus, which is itself an attribute, different than Cannon Damage, Hit Probability, etc. Black Gunpowder Bonus is basically Cannon Damage, that is only applied when the user has the item Black Gunpowder active. So in short, yes, this Skill still provides the extra damage as it previously did (slightly more actually) - as long as you have Black Gunpowders equipped.

I would like to inform you that there has been no change made to Hailstorms, these have always provided 10% Hit Probability.

Thanks, @Swift , I was concerned that the Powder Punch was just going to increase the Hit Probability, but if its going to increase damage then it is worth getting. I'm happy with the answer.
