How much would it cost me in US dollars to have the top boat on the water? The one with the most HP and VP points that one can obtain.

Too many varying factor to consider. If you bought packs or items from the market and some buff you can not buy but have to earn through quests and leveling up. Also Gems play a part in it and in order to get the highest ones you have to craft them. So we can not give you definitive answer. We am sure your fellow pirates will have some numbers but we can say which is correct or not. We are going to move this thread the new pirate tutorial so that it may remain open.

Just an FYI, having the most HP and VP doesn't make you the top. As far as how much it would cost to start a boat from scratch it would be insane. Skills, castles, cannons, extras(items ect) I know 2 years ago when I actually played it cost around $9,000 to get to max and that wasn't start from scratch. I'd say rough estimate you're looking at around $10-15k Maybe more.

I think the poster above is way above the mark. If you buy right and do as much as you can to get the buffs you need, I reckon for $1000 you can have a very good ship, then get buccanneer bounty when it is out for about $20 every month or 2 you would be pretty much set. You just need to play smart, no need to spend $10k. I have spent way less than that and I would say my ship on the pve server is in top 15%

You must have completely ignored what he said. He didn't ask what it cost to get an alright ship. He said top boat on the water. You're actually delusional if you believe that you can get a top ship for $1,000 unless you buy one. By my math, skills, and castles alone if starting from none is roughly $2,500. Please don't forget the price at which bigpoint sells pearls for. Even with a 3x multiplier it's still 2.25 million for $200. For the record to obtain one level 28 gem would cost roughly $2-3k alone. I think people forget the actual price of this game sometimes.

I didn't ignore what he said, I didn't think he meant on day one. As buying an account is not permitted I'd never suggest this. By buying the right cannon packs, not pearl packs, you can build a top boat in a few months for what I suggested. The right events are profitable, play wisely then the info I gave is not wrong. You can spend 10 grand on pearls if you like, but it wont get you anywhere near a good boat, cannon packs are usually limited to how many you can buy at any one time, so again you cant have a top boat day one. Folks that spend 10-15k have more money than sense, so I stand by what I say.

more money than sense... yes, But again, That is not what the OP mentioned.

He simply asked how much, and that figure is £10k+ easily.

There is no way to actually determine who has "the top boat on the water". There are so many parameters in this game that no player can truthfully determine this. For example (look in your "Hall of Fame"): are you "Number One" in "Sunken Players", "Boardings", "Battle Points", "PvP Hit Points", etc.? And even if you are, these parameters are only what you can see for *your* Server. So there is no way for you to determine the answer to this question.
Assuming you start from scratch with the (unverifiable) goal that you stated, I agree that it will definitely cost you a small fortune. I have spent - in time and money - not nearly what I am sure other players have spent. I have played for over 10 years and have a good boat, but not a "top-gun" boat. And I shiver to think what my "total dollars spent" adds up to!

Just considering cannons alone it would cost around 1000$ (buying packs wisely), then considering the gems (another 400$ at least).

I took a 3 year break and recently returned and that is what it took for me to become competitive again.

Now it you started a boat you would have to consider the time/money to obtain castles, skills, and most important battle points (battle point buffs make a huge difference).

So even if you spend a large sum of money to purchase the pearls for castles/skills, the cannons, gems, and large amounts of ammo it would still take you at least a year to farm out the battle points.

You would also have to take the time/money to farm out crowns/yulong cons for the expansions and the cannons slots as well as level up.

Not a cheap process, and even with all that you will still be sunk as is the nature of the game.

My suggestion is to purchase cannon packs, and wait till you can purchase a design with decent gems. Then enjoy the game and farm out the rest.
