Reducing Damage over Time (D.O.T.)

Sorry to ask another question, but I am somewhat stumped. How do we reduce the D.O.T. we get from being hit with (for example) burning ice ammo? I have the D.O.T. ship special gem and have virtually all of my Castles maxed out at Level 10. I have tried several combinations, and still, the afterburn I experience sometimes goes on for around 6 seconds (or more) before I am able to start repairing. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time and help!

Unfortunately but there is no option within the game where you can reduce the amount of "ticks" you are hit with.

D.O.T stands for Damage Over Time, both special ship gem Emerald and Cleaning Team ship castle reduce the damage received by the burning effect of your opponents ammunition

So for example if I was on about to hit you with 100 000 damage and 2 000 burning effect and you in fact had Emerald ship gem (50% DOT) set on your design then my burning damage would drop to 1 000 per tick.
