no reward

    You need to complete the event quest first.

    If you hit any NPCs without owning any event points you will get 0 rewards.

    ok but even after doing three quests the lanterns are still blank

    Just keep doing quests, some NPCs / quest givers / admirals may require certain amount of event points in order to provide you with rewards.
