wondering

I see many players with a gold circle or aura around their ship. What buff is this? If it's King's Legacy, which I have, why do I not see the aura around my ship? Thanks

It it an orb that move around their ship (the same one as the one that can be found around NPCs in map 31+)?

If so then that's one of the effect of Staff of the Trickster action item.

What does the light of Tortuga do? When I used to play it made you invisible... what I see is a gold circle on the water encircling the ship

The Light of Tortuga increase your hitpoints, damage, speed and hit probability depending on which stage of the item you are currently at.

If you don’t want to move to the next stage, you can activate the Light of Tortuga again, and this will restart you at Stage 1.

Each stage provide you with additional bonuses (you gain +1% to your stage level each time something hits you).

Stage 1:
1,000,000 Hitpoints
Stage 2 (replaces Stage 1):
750,000 Hitpoints
10% Hit Probability
+10 Speed
-25% Dodge
Stage 3 (replaces Stage 2):
500,000 Hitpoints
25% Hit Probability
+20 Speed
-50% Dodge
Stage 4:
You are destroyed.
All Players and NPCs within a 5 square radius receive 1,000,000 Damage​

I do not recommend using Tortuga while being under the Aura as if you reach stage 4 and explode this could remove your protection due to PvP attack from your end.
