The counter went through six complete cycles without generating a Mookfish that I could see. (I was in the mid-range of maps, too). If that is normal, then this game is very badly flawed. Plus - I looked for probably 45 minutes. Most players don't have that much time to spend trying to do 350,000 damage to one npc for one quest. Once again - why are we restricted from seeing where these npcs that we need for our quests are spawning?

The Oswald Murray tasks (other than the first one that gets you into Shark map) are; first one for the one ingredient quests, second one for the two ingredient quests, and the third one is for the three ingredient quests. If you don't recognize the quest names in those quests, then you are maybe looking at the three ones but haven't yet done all the two ones?

I don't understand the logic of having multi-part quests between three different regions (Nautica, Atlantis, and Ragnarok), and having steps like (for example): "go to map 26/2 to coordinates BA-5", and the very next step says: "Defeat 3 x Sausage King" (which happens to be in Ragnarok). First - I just teleported to map 26/2, and now I have to wait until the teleport cools down to go to Safe Haven-4? These quests are loaded with this nonsense, and you can lose a lot of time (or burn through several hour glasses), resetting your teleports. And this is just one part of the quest. Granted, the distance from map 26/2 to map 20 isn't terribly long, but start from map 40/1, and try to get back to Ragnarok, without using a teleport! Second - Why aren't we told the npc is in Ragnarok? These quests really can be wearisome on players.

given, I also find it rather annoying --- but perhaps it is to get the players to experience various maps more, especially Atlantis (while waiting for the teleport reset) -> this in turn could be to increase sales of various products for the impatient (esp. orichalkum or sub staff)
I mean SF devs spnt quite a bit of effort into Atlantis (faulty as it still is >_> ), what better way to advertise it than obnoxious quests?! ;)

That's how the event is designed. There is no further answer as to "WHY".

It has been designed this way, and that's it. There is nothing further to be said here.

I have looked it up and everything works completely fine on all servers.

There is no further answer as to "WHY". <--I'm sorry, but there is an answer as to "why". There is an explanation. This occurs in every event now, and is a constant problem that other players have also complained about, as well as myself. Would you please ask someone? I tried for 45+ minutes to see one. That doesn't seem like "it's working as designed". What is gained by restricting which players see spawning admirals by proximity? That's a simple question, and there is an answer to it. I - for one - would like to know it.

I hear your pain, mate! You plug in one item in the first circle (i.e., fish guts), do the quest, then a different item in the first circle (i.e., squid), do the quest, and then the third item left into the first circle (i.e., plankton), and do the quest. Then you get to the second level of quests, where you put one item in circle 1, and another in circle 2, do the quest, and then...etcetera. Keep in mind that a recipe with 2 or 3 ingredients can have all of the same item in it (i.e., 2 fish gills, or 3 squids). Anyway, today I did *not* get to pick up where I had left off the previous day. I had the last series of quests named "Stuffed to the Gills!" still open from yesterday, and only partially completed. I couldn't insert 3 ingredients! I had to start over, one at a time. So I just toughed it out and went through all of them that I had left, and redeemed the "Stuffed to the Gills!" quest. I have 3 left to complete of the 35 total.

Note: When you accept a quest, you may have it "not take" if the "Shell Capone" quest giver gets far enough away from you. In that case, move closer to him. And - as has been pointed out by (gnarly) pirate Bawdyn - if you have the quest box open and locked, you have to close it and open it back up to verify that your quest is indeed in the list of available quests for you to do. I found this all to be quite confusing! I hope this explanation helps you.

    General Tip: for the quests
    > collect 14 of each; fish guts, squid, plankton
    > do them all in one go, from first to last
    > allot sufficient time (for me it was ~3 hours + at night where things are calmer)
    > watch out for reset times!!! -as this will reset everything (I think it's 2400)

    other:
    - you will not be able to choose specific recipes repeatedly, as long as the other (of 19) are still open
    - even when finishing all recipes it will still reset (for me, with 3 remembered > gone again next reset -_- )
    - you will need Lava ammunition / Lava Cannons to kill Sharks + damage Finpin
    - Finpin npc is super elusive
    - Hacksilver: you can get 2-4 pieces by killing Sharky thingy npc -> Lava Ammo!!

    good luck! you'll need it

    Question regarding Finpin NPC (ROK):
    > is there a max amount that be spawned at a certain time, or is it unlimited?
-> because, according to the spawn -meter in the event box, one can see that sufficient Sharkys are being killed, yet for hours there is no Finpin spawn in ROK1. (just searching for a plausible reason) --thanks!

edit: right on reset it appeared. kinda awkward.

My theory is that there is no announce range for Finpin, so you only know what spawns in the map you're in. So, with 8 other maps for it also spawn in, the odds go down that the final shark will be sunk in your map.

It's really strange. Sometimes there are 2 in ROK1, sometimes you wait for hours for one to show up.

Perhaps the issue is at your end? You may have notifications for admirals turned off in options...

Everything was reviewed by us (not just me) and it works fine.

    Ahoy Pagan_Spirit!

Such information - on the amount of NPCs within one map - is never provided to us.

Perhaps different player spawned one within the higher ROK map.

Rymar - where is this "notifications of admirals" toggle within the Options menu? I'm not aware of it.

No - that's like arguing that a new car a person just purchased, but which suddenly breaks down a lot, was planned that way to get the buyer more familiar with all of the options they have on the car. There is no valid excuse for poor planning and execution.

    Ahoy The*Defiant,

The toggle being referred to is found within the graphics section of the configurator.
It is titled 'Floating announcement messages' , If this is unticked then admiral spawns will not be highlighted on your sea chart, however they will still be present in the announcement section of the chat tool.

but I do get your point. we gotta remember that SF is voluntary p2p, most of the base is still f2p.

Doing a quest that says to go to coordinates in 16/1 map. I go there and land on the red X, it does NOT disappear and does not work. I have cleared caches, logged out and back in, etc. The X is still there and i cannot go forward with the quest. What is up with this? It certainly is not "working as designed"... This is the quest "Salty Seamen". Help please, i am stuck and would like to finish it. :)
Never mind - i canceled the quest. Not worth waiting for.

    Ahoy Tergrinder!

In such cases please try the following:

    - Check if your quest is still displayed within your quest log menu (not the small box, the actual quest menu found at the top of your map)
    - If the quest is still there provide us with the server and user ID so this can be reviewed
    - If the quest is not there you'll have to visit the same quest-giver again and start it over

That happened to me, too. It sounds like the same quest. I tried logging out, and finally it acknowledged that I touched the "x". It's frustrating, especially since nobody ever fixed the problem with the quest window.

I checked my settings, and my box was checked properly. So that doesn't explain the difficulties I encountered with spawning admirals. To try to get an answer that made sense, I asked Support. Their answer: "It was programmed so that everyone had equal opportunities".

My reply: "That makes no sense. If *everyone* could see the admirals spawn, then everyone could go shoot them. Doing it like this denies us of that opportunity. These ships don't have nearly enough hit points on them either, so when (*if*) we get to them, we are lucky to get a few shots off. I wish someone would think this through."
