    Good afternoon all!

A bit of a dark topic, account sharing, but I'm hoping this can bring some clarity to myself and to the rest of the community.

We all know that Account Sharing is against the rules, as written in the Terms & Condition of the game. It is no secret to those that know me that I've shared my account with others in the past, and I have paid the price for that with account bans. The real question I want to ask is: "Why is account sharing actually against the rules".

I'm fully aware that despite the written rules on the Terms & Conditions regarding account sharing, there are servers where it is not actually deemed as a ban-worthy offence, and players speak openly with moderators on those servers about account sharing with no action taken. As far as I am aware this applies to the Turkish servers, as well as the Dutch server, but I am not sure which other servers allow it. On these servers the view on account sharing is that players can share their accounts with others at their own risk.

So... Can an admin or a knowledgeable player please let me know what the actual reasons are behind the prohibition of Account Sharing, and why the severity varies from server to server, despite the T&C being the same.

EDIT: I would also like to address that one of the reasons I am questioning this rule is because of the inconsistency of it. A few examples of many are below, to show how inconsistent this is.

    1. - Difficulties logging in (2013), ask a player to check if they can log in my account, they do but only back page, I write to support to explain this before I got any punishment - BANNED 1 MONTH

    2. - General account sharing (2017) with a UK based player on my account who never spoke in global - BANNED 1 MONTH (Not trying to say its okay, just an informative example)

    3. Player from UK plays the account of another player the other side of the world (2017). Admits sharing in global, even noted by admins and forwarded - NO BAN

    4. Player from DE3 (2017) plays 15-20 ships at one time from the same IP address to shoot islands - NO BAN

    5. Player from DE4 (2017) plays 50+ accounts under the same IP address to take islands - NO BAN

These are not complaints about me getting banned, as I am fully aware that at least in the second offence this was a perfectly legitimate reason to ban my account, I am not disputing that. What I am questioning is the consistency. Surely if one player is banned for it, all players should be, especially when presented with more evidence.

    Thanks,

"Why is account sharing actually against the rules". It is not for us to question the reasons or rules that are in the T&C's it is down to the moderation team to try to endorse these rules and to attempt to ensure they are followed and fair game play is covered by all.

I can only again reiterate that Sharing accounts will result in a suspension, as it is a breach of Terms & Conditions. Specifically – “9.3.7 The User must not, under any circumstance use the Account, login name or password of another user”.

I also can not comment on any other servers that I am not a part of, ie different language servers for example the TL (Turkish) and NL (Netherlands). I can investigate DE (German) accounts as they are part of our server, but any findings have to be forwarded to the DE team for action to be taken.

I wish that we did all work on the same page, I wish we did all follow the same steps, I can state we all have the same T&Cs and Rules that we as moderators have to follow, some teams are just more pro active in this aspect than others.

"I would also like to address that one of the reasons I am questioning this rule is because of the inconsistency of it." Whilst I totally agree with your thoughts on this matter, ban one player for sharing ban them all, please take note this is my personal thoughts on this statement and not that of Bigpoint.

However it is down to the evidence we have and can prove 100% that a player is sharing.

    For example :

"1. - Difficulties logging in (2013), ask a player to check if they can log in my account, they do but only back page, I write to support to explain this before I got any punishment - BANNED 1 MONTH" Here the player wrote to support and openly admits this (even if he tried to explain why, it is a clear admittance of breaching the T&C.

"2. - General account sharing (2017) with a UK based player on my account who never spoke in global - BANNED 1 MONTH (Not trying to say its okay, just an informative example)" Here they would have had evidence to show this account was shared, if it got banned then 100% proof was found.

"3. Player from UK plays the account of another player the other side of the world (2017). Admits sharing in global, even noted by admins and forwarded - NO BAN" This would be a clear ban in admitting in chat to sharing. If you still have the evidence or proof of this please forward to support, stating that GTL Seren has requested this information and I will ensure it is reviewed.

"4. Player from DE3 (2017) plays 15-20 ships at one time from the same IP address to shoot islands - NO BAN" This matter has been taken out of our hands and was reviewed by the managers of Bigpoint not just Seafight and we can not comment or take any action of this, no matter what we (moderators) feel.

"5. Player from DE4 (2017) plays 50+ accounts under the same IP address to take islands - NO BAN" Again please refer to above comment for number 4.
I hope I have answered all your comments and points, but will now close this post as I can not and will not get into any further discussion on the whys and wherefores of the T&C's that you all did agree upon when making your accounts or have again agreed upon at later dates.
