When does the bot algorithm run? - Better yet don't say when but run it more often, its disappointing how many glitter bots there are. Its not right and its not fair.

same ?'s been asked for a gd minimum 5 years and seen no change just give up on all hope it never comes if give up im sure it will be less dissheartening as you continue your seafight voyage

Its an interesting one, and seems to come with varied responses depending on who you talk to. According to support, the scans are run constantly, picking up bot users on a daily basis. It then tracks patterns in players movements to determine whether or not they are a bot user or not, before then banning the account(s). Either this is extremely slow, or extremely ineffective as 24/7 botting ships never seem to get picked up. It was interesting a year or 2 ago to see a player on my server and his very close friend, who had botted a handful of times each, both receive a permanent ban for their first offence, whilst constant users who had even been banned before received only a month's ban. The players that were banned spent minimal amounts on the game compared to some that spent large amounts and escaped, but I don't want to be that guy that blames the ban system on how much people spend as I don't believe this is strictly true. Many high profile, high expenditure accounts get banned for botting whereas many smaller accounts do not.

I have then heard through a member of the team via discord, that this is not the case at all. I am going purely on what the team member said to me here, so I cannot confirm and will not add my own opinions, but this was that there is not a system at all, and that players are hand-picked where there is enough evidence and punished accordingly, with the numbers then posted in the forum being exaggerated to deter users. Now, this is only what I was told and I have no evidence of this being true. I am not trying to take a stab at BigPoint or any of the team members if this is not the case, and I hope that it is not.

My personal thoughts, which I have stated before, are that the bot epidemic has grown too far for BigPoint to feasibly remove the botters without taking a substantial hit to their revenue. I also think that if BigPoint had a legitimate way of detecting and punishing users efficiently, then it would be used. There is no logical reason why BigPoint, if they had a script, wouldn't run this to temporarily ban ALL bot users as a way of deterring the use of the programs as opposed to removing ~75% of their player base.

its to late for them to do anything now players have constantly been recording players and sending vids in which clearly shows programmes being used and got totally ignored. over many many years they continued reporting evidence to support and continually watch nothing being done about it bk then there was just a handfull but because of all the ignorance regarding this matter players just lost heart in bigpoint then you noticed the numbers rising gradualy to the state it is now and over those years ive not noticed any dissapear of the water. now bp are in a right muddle cause if there is a detection system it should detect every account using and no matter about how much an account spends all should be treated equaly which would leave the game with minimal activity left on it now.and ive no doubt what u was told on discord is correct.

an experiance i had afew days ago i logged in and was on map 25 i sailed threw every map from 25 down to 2-1 sailing threw every map without a light and shooting whatever i seen and these are my kills and i wasnt sunk once while i did this

bk in the day you would struggle to make it threw 1 map without being sunk but i went from 25-1 threw every map killed all these ships yet not 1 shot bk lol thats how dead this game is now and as i make it to 1 maps i seen 100's of ships jittering around with movement but not actually doing anything. i dont blame the players i blame bp for not acting on the problem when 1st reported now theres not a great deal they can do as 5% botting has jumped to probably 95% over the time.

 

Good response, and it goes to show the real extent this has now grown to. I agree with your final statement too to an extent, about how this is down to BP, not the players. At the end of the day, it is still the player's choice to break the rules, but I wouldn't blame any players for doing it. What reason do they have not to aside from the moral concept? BigPoint overcharge massively for all their items, especially ones that bots seem efficient and stockpiling. For example, who in their right mind would wait until Sunday afternoon and spend £180 on pearls, when they could make the same in a day on an event for free. BigPoint continue to bring out more and more items and features that make it much harder for legitimate players to keep up. With the additions of Pet Trainers, Daily Quests, Profitable Scrolls (who's idea was this, you literally increased bot usage ten-fold for no reason lol), Voodoo Priest, Buffs, League, a Commonwealth Raid Map that runs 24/7 and is more profitable than any event... All these features just give more variety to the bot users as to what they want to do, and it just adds more and more work to the legitimate players. They have driven off nearly all semi-active legitimate players themselves, not through bots, but because they bring out so many tasks that need to be kept ontop of that many players simply do not have the time to do. Awful business planning, I genuinely do not understand the logic, especially with the scrolls. Scrolls are undoubtedly the most botted feature of the game, and so they decided to make it profitable to throw pearls in the cauldron and introduced a ranking to reward the most active botters. Sigh....
