Am I missing something?

Hello! So, my ship is lvl 21, I have 260 cannon slots full with 60 and 55 pounders, got 26 skill points on a damage sheet. Yet, my damage point when I shoot hollows is quite low, around 6200-6300 per shot, with black gunpowder activated. Is it just me or is this relatively low? I see ships sailing around with twice and more damage than me, pretty much everyone shoots better than my ship and I was thinking, maybe I'm missing on something here? Is there something that I don't know about boosting a damage point? Can someone tell me all the possibilities how I can work on it?

The damage for your number of cannons seems right in the normal range. You have relatively few cannons on your ship as most run between 350 and 400 cannons. You need to add powder monkeys if you do not have them and commonwealth sellsword which will add another 25 and 30 weapons slots respectively.

I do own powder monkeys, but as I know they simply help your cannons to reload faster. Isn't that true? Just bought commonwealth sellsword, which did add weapon slots, but it's 10k pearls and only for 24 hours)) Now I have 300 cannons and hit 7500 with gunpowder. With some pearls I can add 50 more slots but how do I add other 50? And also, do people actually pay 10k pearls every day to have the sellsword?

 

Forgive me I misspoke. I ment to say Cabin Boys not Powder Monkey. Cabin Boys add 25 weapon slots and you can get lvl1 sellswords from boarding HRMS Warriors:

HRMS Warrior



Hitpoints: 600,000
Boarding Value: 10,000

Reward for Boarding:
1x Commonwealth Sellsword Level 1 (chance)
15 Crowns

Reward for Destroying (Damage Share):
1,400,000 Gold
10 Crowns
2,500 Experience Points

Map Locations: 21/1, 21/2, 22/1 and 22/2

That is how I stay stocked up.

Hi. Don't forget the Admiran cannons... You do more damage with gold cannonballs using this cannons.
