    Boarding

Destroying your enemy vessels is not the only way to gain rewards, boarding them can be profitable too! Players and some
NPC's can be boarded, giving you access to additional rewards; should your pirates be strong enough!

    How to Board:

When a NPC or Player is below the required Boarding Threshold, (more on this later) if you approach the ship the Boarding Button will light up. Pressing this button will attempt to board the enemy ship by comparing your Boarding Bonus against your Targets Boarding Protection

    1.png

If the Boarding Button does not light up, this may because you have no Boarding Officer, no Pirates equipped or your Boarding Cool-down is active.

Note: You will be shown the message "You have boarded {Name}" if you win or lose your boarding attempt, if you have successfully boarded the enemy ship you will receive a reward.

You can see exact results of the Boarding attempt in the Boarding Log (information on this found below)

    Boarding Symbol:

Boardable NPC's will have a Boarding Symbol to the left of their name. This symbol is used to indicate if a NPC is below the Boarding Threshold or above it.

If the NPC is Boardable, it will have the Boarding Symbol next to its name. If it's Hitpoints are higher than your Boarding Threshold these symbol will be in dark colours as shown:

    2.png
When the NPC is below the required Hitpoints for the Boarding Threshold, then this symbol shall light up and be shown in lighter colours:

    3.png
If the NPC type is Boardable but you do not see any Boarding Symbol, then this could be because of a few reasons:
    • The NPC has been previously Boarded
    • You do not have a Boarding Officer
    • You do not have Pirates Equipped
    • You have Boarded a different ship prior to this and you will need to wait for the Boarding Cool-down to expire
    Boarding Threshold:

Boarding Threshold is the percentage of Hitpoints your target needs to have lower than to be able to attempt to board them.

There is only one way you can gain Boarding Threshold, that is having a Boarding Officer equipped:

Commander Level 1 provides 25% Boarding Threshold.

Commander Level 2 provides 50% Boarding Threshold.

You can see your Boarding Threshold value by going to the Crew menu, (crossed swords at the top of the screen) then looking at the Boarding threshold value under the "Values" section, as shown below.

In rare cases when you are trying to Board a target who's Hitpoints is above the Boarding Threshold, you may be shown the following error message.

    6.png

    Boarding Bonus:

Your Boarding Bonus is the total offensive power of your Crew; pirates, equipment, and bonuses.

When boarding a target this is directly compared against your Targets Boarding Protection. If your Boarding Bonus is higher than their Boarding Protection, you will win the Board and get rewarded handsomely! However, if it's lower you will lose and gain nothing!

You can see your Boarding Bonus value by going to the Crew menu, (crossed swords at the top of the screen) then looking at the Boarding bonus value under the "Values" section, as shown below.

    Boarding Protection:

Your Boarding Protection is the total defensive power of your Crew; pirates, equipment, and bonuses.

When a Target is trying to Board you, this is directly compared against your Targets Boarding Bonus. If your Boarding Protection is higher than their Boarding Bonus, your pirates will win and will save all of your precious gold! However, if its lower you will lose and they will take a percentage of your gold!

You can see your Boarding Protection value by going to the Crew menu, (crossed swords at the top of the screen) then looking at the Boarding protection value under the "Values" section, as shown below.

    Max. Boarding loot:

Your Max. Boarding loot is highest amount of Gold you could obtain from a successful board. This value does not effect any other currency, such as pearls.

You can see your Max. Boarding loot value by going to the Crew menu, (crossed swords at the top of the screen) then looking at the Max. Boarding loot value under the "Values" section, as shown below.

    Equipping Crew:

Equipping your Crew has been made as simple as possible. To start with, you will need to open up your Crew menu. (crossed swords at the top of the screen)

    11.png

Simply click on the Boarding officer, Commonwealth officer, pirate or equipment in the Storage section (left side) and drag them into the Equipped section (right side), select how much you would like to equip then press "Move".

Alternatively, you can also hold the "Ctrl" button, and click on the Boarding officer, Commonwealth officer, pirate or equipment in the Storage section (left side), select how much you would like to equip then press "Move".

Note: Your changes will not be saved if you are being damaged while changing your Crew setup.
Note: When an equipped pirate dies, all equipment he was using is also lost. If you have extra pirates and/or equipment of the same type in Storage, then this will be automatically equipped for you.

    Increasing your Boarding Bonus:

There are multiple ways to increase your Boarding Bonus.

The most common and easiest way is to hire better pirates and equip them with better quality equipment! You can find the stats of the different type of Pirates in the Crew Members bible entry.

The next thing which comes to mind is to equip more pirates! This can be done in a range of ways; improving your ship, purchasing Expansion Slots, equipping better Boarding Officers, acquiring extra decks! The maximum pirates you can currently equip with a full breakdown can be found in the Maximum Values bible entry.

Boarding Bonus Gems are a effective way to increase the value. These provide you with a percentage boost, so any value gained from your pirates and equipment is then increased by the percentage value of your gem!

Rowboats, a ship Extension, not only provides a percentage boost, but gives you extra room to equip even more pirates - which are also increased by the percentage boost! Equipping multiple Rowboats is a very quick way to increase your Boarding Bonus by large values!

If you put in the hard work and meet the requirements, you may have unlocked the Captain's Cutlass Trophy! This Trophy rewards you with increasing your Boarding Bonus by a percentage too! You can find the stats for the Trophy Room in the Trophy Room bible entry.

The maximum value of your Boarding Bonus along with a full breakdown of how it is achieved can be found in the Maximum Values bible entry.

    Boarding Rewards:

When you successfully board a ship you will get a reward!

Boarding Players will result in Gold being taken from their ship, carried off by your pirates! The amount of Gold you receive all depends on the Max. Boarding loot and the amount of pirates you have surviving!

If you board a ship which has no pirates, none of your pirates will die so you will carry off the full Max. Boarding loot percentage of their total Gold. However, if your pirates have to battle a fewer number will survive, so they won't be able to carry as much and so you will receive less gold!
The calculation of this is as follows:

(1 - (Targets Boarding Protection / Your Boarding Bonus) x (Max. Boarding loot * Defenders Gold)
The boarding protection calculation is as follows:

(Targets Boarding Protection / Your Boarding Bonus) x (Max. Boarding loot * Defenders Gold)

    Boarding Cool-down:

There is a Cool-down between being able to board ships in Seafight. You can board a ship, then you must wait for the Cool-down to end before being able to board another ship.

There is two different Cool-downs for boardings, one for NPC's and one for Players.

    Player Boarding Cool-down: 60 seconds

    NPC Boarding Cool-down: 15 seconds

    Boarding Logbook:

The Boarding Logbook shows you the last 10 boarding offences and defenses.

Each offensive entry shows the Time, the Opponent, your Boarding Bonus value, the Targets Boarding Protection value, and the amount of Gold Gained.

Each defensive entry shows the Time, the Opponent, your Boarding Protection value, the Targets Boarding Bonus, the amount of Gold Lost, and the amount of Gold Protected. (by defeating some of their pirates)

To view these you need to first open the Crew menu. (crossed swords at the top of the screen)

    25.png

Then on the right hand side click the "four lines", this will then open the Boarding Logbook and should look similar to the picture below.

    26.png

    27.png
When hovering over the inspect button, (eye icon on the blue background) you will be able to see the amount of pirates and equipment lost in the battle.
