I've a mix of cannons on my ship, ranging from 8 pounders all the way up to a 60 pounder due to what I can afford as well as pick up, are the firing rates for my ship based on the slowing firing cannon or is it just a random arrangement?

I think they average it out. My current mission is to convert all my 30-pounders into (at least) 50-pounders, buying them in the market cove. I still have 48 to go and I am averaging less than 10 a week. It's a hard task, especially since as I suspect, there are cheaters in the market cove.

However, over the last few months I have managed to increase my average hit rate by about 1000HP by upgrading my cannons. If you have a credit card and a load of disposible income I gather from what I have read that you can become one of those geezers who sink you in two shots from a hundred miles away and don't even bother to board you on the way, they are that arrogant and disdainful of the scum that you are. God knows how much it might cost you but if that's what you wanna spend your money on, hey, it's probably cheaper than a heroin addiction.

Every upgrade of cannons seems to increase your hit rate and reloading time, but I'm sure somebody else can help you out with the intricate details if you need them.

    Ahoy mate,

Your fellow pirate is correct, the hit rate and reload speed is averaged out across all your cannons.

thanks, wasn't sure if it was just an average or that I wasn't picking up the best bang for my gold, since the question's been answered, please close this thread, if i come up with another whiz-bang, i'm sure to post it here :)

Something that you may find helpful too is the following:

We coded a damage estimator for you to use to help with setting up your account. It will also give you an estimate of your reload speed. You can get a better idea from this. Hope it helps :)
