Can't get on the chart

When I click "play now", I get a black sea chart with some fancy scrolling print around the edges and the same sort of etching that appears as faded background in the black chart. No water, no ships, no anything. This has only started occurring since the event started - the event that seems to have totally screwed up this entire site if the forum posts of others are any indication. Can you just end this so-called event and get back to normal? I can't play at all as it stands now. Nothing but problems since you started this Calypso nonsense (a very bad event by the way, no fun at all).

Have you tried the standard clearing of cache? Also check to make sure your flash player is updated.

Thanks, I updated the player and cleared caches, nothing works...
Never had a problem until this event started, now it seems like everything is messed up. What has happened to the servers...?

 

i dont think its the seafight servers, its becoming a common problem which seems to stem from a combination of your pc, flash player and browsers all conflicting for a number of reasons, its a right headache to resolve for some, depending on your pc whereas others are either not experiencing problems or resolving them quite easily, it seems to be affecting a number of games, video sites, youtube etc. as well as seafight and although certain things have solved the problems for some, mozilla firefox seems to be the worst affected browser yet some are having no problems with it, look through other threads in this section and you will see lots of suggestions as to what might help, give them a try one by one.. frustrating as it is.. i've been trying to sort mine for nearly 2 weeks now

Actually, I believe this WAS a BP problem. I did nothing different after posting the above, then came back on this morning and now everything works fine. I'm on the water, the log-in bug is fixed, I'm not getting the white rectangle with the exclamation point in the center (a bug I have only seen on this site, nowhere else), or the blank black chart with the scrollwork. The rectangle has appeared in place of the sea chart when the log-in connection fails, but in the past couple of days I have seen two smaller white rectangles with centered exclamation points on the home/log-in page where graphics should be, even though the rest of the page loads - this is BEFORE I logged in to the site itself. Then logging into the sea chart, I'd get either the blank white or blank black chart. Seems obvious to me that BP majorly messed things up when they started the event, maybe w/o completing testing to see if it all would work? They appear to have the rudder back on course, so I'll quit this thread. Thanks to all who offered suggestions, and thanks to BP for finally fixing this mess. I love this game, gotta get my daily fix, and it's fun when it works but a pain when it doesn't!
