    Does the castle 'gold chests' apply to crowns ? Because when look skill description, it says gold and this one uses 'loot' which would actually make it a castle ( instead of wasted space ie: everything that boosts gold from boardings ) ...

    No, this castle only increases the Gold amount you get from Boardings.
