What is the difference between damage prevention and dodge? I suppose that damage prevention is used against NPCs and Dodge is used against players?

Basically damage prevention = Decreases damage taken from cannon shots.
Dodge = How your enemies have a miss chance (after the hit probability).

I would use both of them in PvP and PvE but mostly dodge in PvP and damage prevention in PvE.

EDIT: Look at Arky's best gem placements in PvP and PvE here: https://board-en.seafight.com/threads/best-gems-ship-pet.169095/#post-507577

    Ahoy,

Your fellow pirate is correct. Damage Prevention reduces your opponents Cannon Damage, which lowers the damage you receive from the Ammunition. Dodge reduces your opponents Hit Probability, which when is below 100% reduces all damage received.

Also as your fellow pirate stated, it is commonly thought among players that Damage Prevention is more effective against NPCs and Dodge is more effective in PvP.

    Has this answered your query?

As I understand,NPCs don't have any hit probability?

    Ahoy,

Unfortunately, we do not have the information if some NPC's have Hit Probability or not.

A personal thought, and not that of Bigpoint, is that NPC's starting from level 21 or higher, have some Hit Probability.

Do you have any more questions related to this topic?
