Dminishing rewards

so i play the game more during the pandemic and starting to enjoy it more again than i have for a long time but now i get punished with "diminishing rewards"

what is that all about? how long does it last and will i get whatever is lost back?
what a stupid thing to add to a game that you want people to play.

 

The system was created to make it less profitable for the bots so they wouldn't run them 24/7. It did work for a while, but the bot runners realized that getting less profit wasn't zero profit, so they are running again, just long enough that they don't get to zero. The recently 'adjusted' they system to be less punative (you can play longer before your rewards goes down and can be off less time before it goes back up) and for the last couple of events they have not included the event NCP in the system, so there are even more of them, running longer again.

There are several 'official announcements' with info about the system. There may even be an FAQ?

 

Like bawdyn said, It was created to prevent bots there isn't much information around on how it works so its all very estimation, and especially since there was an adjustment recently theres even less information on how the new sytem works.

A Basic explanation for you though;

Every ship has a Timer counting up and down for how long they've been online. If it is at 0 You are going to gain +10% Rewards on Pearls, EXP, ELP, Crows, Yulong, From all REGULAR Npc Encounters and Some Event Ship Encounters (For some reason they've stopped including the event NPCs in diminishing returns? Seems counter intuative however could be because of lockdown)

The +10% Boost Used to last for 1 Hour (I think it lasts up to 2 hours now?)
Once that has faded your diminishing returns effect in the top left corner will dissapear and you will be on +0% and will receive regular rewards

It used to be that you would be on 0% For Around 6-8 Hours (In my experience) Before Dropping to -10% (However this may have been increased to be longer or even shorter because of the extended +10% Time)

Once you hit -10% Every hour (Again could be changed) You would drop -10% Till Eventually you now hit -100% Rewards (This used to stop at -90% But i guess at another attempt to stop bots you can now reach -100%)

Every minute you are offline your Timer counts back to 0. Once it reaches 0 You will return to +10%, If you were online for 12 Hours and hit -30% Lets say, And you were offline for 8 hours, Your timer would be on 4Hours (12-8) and you'd be on +0% With a few hours before you return back to -10%

Hopefully this has helped explain diminishing returns slightly

However this is all from personal experience as i said they do not explain the diminishing returns very well and the times may not be correct or even accurate because of the recent changes.
