Just a quick couple of questions concerning the crafting materials, I have already read the other posts concerning the tools but....(1) could a gem be held at the same or downgraded a level from it's current strength? (2) re-crafting the same jewel multiple times, is this remotely possible to achieve the highest level? (3) currently you need 4 of the same type and level gems to upgrade, how many same type gems are needed with the tools now to upgrade?
I know these questions seem fairly ignorant to ask and I'm sure many here are skeptical about the tools and the entire process that it entails but I have seen nothing from BP on how to do the process nor the possible outcomes upon completion.

We are at this time getting together a FAQ on this subject. We apologise for the delay but this is being done by the moderators, as we have no official feedback regarding these tools yet.

Thank you for your patience whilst this is put together.

    From experience and experimentation.

    1) The only way gems could be held at the same level is by not placing them into the gemcutter at all, they will never be downgraded in level. However, once you have decided to place four gems of the same level into the cutter the only outcomes are either :-

    A) To be upgraded to the next level above, i.e. from four level 13 gems to become one x level 14 gem. (remember you lose three gems every upgrade)

    OR

    B) If you are very lucky they will skip over one entire level, i.e. from four level 13 gems to become one single level 15 gem. You have three goes if you choose, with each re-try costing you more pearls.

    2) Apart from being very lucky and skipping over an entire level as in 1B.... No!

    3) You don't need to have four of the same type, but gems must all be the same level number. For example you can mix two level 13 cannon gems with any two other mixed level 13 gems of your choice, either offensive or defensive, to upgrade to a single level 14 gem. This has more % chance likelihood of turning into (*but not guaranteed) a cannon gem because you placed two cannons gems in (50% - 25% - 25% respectively). Indeed I have regularly taken chances and placed two cannon gems into the cutter alongside a harpoon and a boarding gem in order to successfully acquire more upgraded cannon gems.

    Hope that helps meantime M8!

    gems cannot be downgraded,

recrafting the same jewel is not possible unless you have sufficient gems of various levels to keep addding up to the usual 4 gems each time

you still require 4 gems to upgrade as the new crafting tool is only used to improve on the original 25% chance for each gem or to have a better chance of skipping a complete gem level on your upgrade as before
