I cannot keep my Pet turned Off!

Despite my unchecking (under Options/Graphics/Animation) the boxes to "Show my pet" and "Show other players' pets", my pet keeps popping back up about every 5 minutes and it is very, very aggravating! Is this a known game problem or just a problem with my Account? Your time and help are much appreciated!

My UserID is 40/39576125; Boat name The*Defiant; U.S. East Server.

 

This should be a known problem, i have it aswell:/ some times it works correctly for days on end, then for the next few days the pet will always stay regardless of what i do.. (BAD PET) Yesterday i also had all the monsters flapping like madmen with that option ticked aswell!
you are not alone, my pet is badly behaved aswell guess he wants feeding

We are sorry but we do not have an update yet. Please bear with us a little longer until we get more information from our game developers.

We understand that it can be irritating and frustrating, but there are a few more pressing issues that need resolving first.
