I do think it would be nice if the players and/or Mods (and developers....sadly, that would be hopeless to wish for...) gave us any tips they could share on this confusing topic. I see players asking very good questions that I myself have about "Vitality", "Reputation", etc. One thing I recently discovered (that everyone probably already knows, but I'm a dummy) is this: I have seen "missions" that show the mission with two perks (which I thought meant it "required" that a captain have the same two perks to do it), BUT I just discovered to my delight he could do the mission with either of the two perks! (Which baffles me as to why I would want to transfer multiple perks to one captain, and risk losing some other captains in the process). An example is below: Both the Mission and the Captain are green, Mission has "Cannonslinger and Charmer" Perks. My Captain has "Pistolero and Charmer" Perks. The "Vitality" is high enough, so he will do the mission!

Maybe others can add their own tips and clarifications to this thread to help us all.

    Ahoy,

As you have stated, you are only required to have 1 matching Perk to do the mission, but, you only have the chance to receive 1 potential reward in that case. The number of matching perks you have equals the number of potential rewards you could earn, so 1 matching perk = 1 potential reward, 2 perks = chance for 2 potential rewards, 3 perks = chance for 3 potential rewards, etc.

Yes - Now that I have read your post, I do recall previously reading that "caveat". Thanks for pointing that out!:)

    Ahoy,

My tip would be to check the values of your captain at the very start before you upgrade them.

For example lets take Vitality, you can have a captain with between 81 and 95 Vitality. If your captain has 81, they will always have a lot less vitality when improving their tiers, so much so they may never be able to do missions of the same tier, and vitality equipment would have less effect. Whereas if you have a captain of 95 starting vitality, you would gain even more each time you improve the tier.

The same principle applies to luck and reputation as well. So make sure the starting values of your captain are good enough for what you would like, before you start improving their tiers.

That's a great tip! Thank you so much! By the way, do you happen to know the starting ranges for the Reputation and Luck values (or a link that shows the ranges)? :)

    Ahoy,

You can see the possible ranges on the Captains Chest, so some can be as low as 1 and some as high as 15. Although, it depends on the type of captain you get, some will be able to have more Luck and not much Vitality, or some can have more Vitality and not as much Reputation, etc.

Note: The Vitality value is 80 + what is being displayed, so if it shows 10 - 15, that is actually 90 - 95.
