why are some changing to red text for some ships?

 

This means they are currently "owned" by someone else. Sinking oracles when they're red won't give you any reward. You have to wait some time till they turn back to natural.

How can the Oracles be owned when they can be stolen? I've lost plenty of them when someone swoops in and takes last shot and I get nothing.

 

You have to do more than half of the damage to the Oracle in order to receive the reward.

I've done more than half, then someone else starts shooting it and I get nothing. I know the FAQ says that its most damage, but I think it isn't 50%, maybe you have to do 80% to get the reward?

 

It would depend on the amount of time when you stopped shooting and someone else comes along and shoots it. This is to prevent players shooting them down so far, then continuing to sail and shoot another down, leaving another player to come along shoot the rest and get no reward.

 

I don't stop, I am actively shooting it, have it more than 50% down, someone comes along and starts shooting at the same time as me and they get the reward, I get nothing.

 

this i have endured also,sorry for hacking the treath but i lost many while having more then 60%dammage,sometime people yust take last shot and i dont get rewards

 

Also.... I'm looking at an Oracle right now that has nobody shooting it and it is red and has way more than 50% left on it. So, it doesn't turn red at 50%. I've also seen other ones that I've watched them be shot by someone go from untouched to destruction and never turn red. Something is definitely messed up with how they are working.

 

kinda aggravating to shoot an oracle and someone swings by and steals it, what happened to it being locked once someone shoots them? (apologies to the op)

 

I was always under the impression that the "red text" only took effect for those who are a low level. But to be quite honest im not sure.. it is possible that this feature is so old it may not work right.

maybe this issue is instigated by the kind of harpoon u are using, and how much time it takes you to take it out? -- the system might just not recognize you as the initial shooter..

 

It might be an exploit. The ones that seem to be doing this stealing act like bots. They go from Oracle to Oracle and pay no attention to if its being shot by anyone else or not. The 'solution' seems to be to change from shooting the Oracle to shooting them. The bot reacts by leaving.
