Maybe you guys can help me understand this, I havent played for about 7 years and am relearning everything, I started today, have quested up to level 4, never even aimed at another player much less attacked one. Well i came up on a large group of ships in 1/1 after leaving safe haven still questing and they sunk me. How is that possible?? If i get no protection even on my first day then why bother playing at all? I cant afford to spend hundreds on this game. can somebody tell me whats going on?

    Hello,

are you positive that your buff was active during the time when you been atacked?

Your Pirate Protection can be seen in top left corner and it looks like this:

    Pirate Protection.png

Once this image is visible on your screen you are protected from other players.

However, be aware that you are not allowed to shot / board any other players if you want to keep your protection.

If you decide to shot/board other player your Newbie Protection will be automatically lost.

Pirate protection buff can be gained from some low level quests.

Please be aware that while you can not be sunk by a player shooting at you, at this time you can be sunk by a Contact Mine even if you have Pirate Protection active.

    Hope that helps,

    Rymar

    Ahoy,

If you had a Pirate Protection active and were sunk by a player this would of been the result of a contact mine.

A contact mine is an area of effect action item which deals 100,000 damage multiplied by the amount of players within its area zone. You can find more information about this item by viewing the Action Items post in the Seafight Bible.
