    Repair & Sands of Time Adjustments – Balance Update

    Ahoy Pirates,

    We recently ran a poll on our Discord Server regarding Sands of Time after receiving significant feedback that repair-related mechanics had become overly powerful.

    Community Poll Results
    • 52% voted for a rework of the bonuses
    • 13% wanted a cooldown increase
    This meant nearly two thirds of the community supported a change.

    Based on this feedback, ongoing Discord discussions, and moderator input, we focused on rebalancing the underlying repair mechanics while restoring value to underused items such as the Hour Glass.
    Why Repair Mechanics Were Changed

    When stacking multiple sources of Repair Speed reduction, values exceeded -100%, resulting in instant repairs.

    This caused several issues:

    • Any value beyond -100% had no balancing meaning
    • Battles often devolved into repair button spam
    • Damage and counterplay were effectively removed
    • Balancing future repair bonuses became extremely difficult
    To address this, many Repair Speed bonuses have been shifted to Repair Value, allowing repair bonuses to remain impactful without enabling instant repairs.
    Item Changes
    • Hour Glass - AMS Changes
      • -20% Repair Speed changed to 50% Repair Value
      • Added 25% Battlepoint Bonus
    • Sands of Time - AMS Changes
      • -25% Repair Speed changed to 100% Repair Value
      • Cannon Damage increased from 25% to 35%
      • Added 2 absolute Battlepoints
      • Added 100% Battlepoint Bonus
    • Additional Changes
      • Cooldowns and Duration
        • Hour Glass and Sands of Time now have separate cooldowns
        • They still cannot be used at the same time
        • Sands of Time duration increased from 40 minutes to 1 hour
        • Sands of Time cooldown increased from 2 hours to 3 hours
        • Hour Glass cooldown reduced from 2 hours to 90 minutes
      • Repair-Related Adjustments
        • Carpenters Repair Value increased
          • Level 1: 300 -> 1,000
          • Level 2: 600 -> 2,000
          • Level 3: 1,200 -> 3,000
          • Level 4: 2,400 -> 4,000
          • Level 5: 2,400 -> 5,000
        • Masterwork Tools
          • Added 2,500 Repair Value
        • Submarine Repair Crew Castle
          • Changed from percentage-based repair to an absolute value, matching Ship Castle behaviour
    These changes are intended to restore meaningful combat flow, preserve repair as a valuable mechanic, and reintroduce counterplay and strategic depth to battles.

    As always, feedback will continue to be monitored as these changes settle into the live environment.
