    As the title says I think an official server would be a great way to receive updates from the game (patch notes/events) as well as interact with the community.

    Many other games including other BP game(s) have one and I think it's time for us to have one too.

    As above, it does already exist and a good place for info before it lands at the forum, I use the seafight discord more than i do the forum, so the answer to your question is, yes, use the discord. its alot more friendly than this forum.
