Quote: "As you may know, Microsoft has ceased support for Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 which means they will no longer provide security updates..."

Just so you know, and with all due respect - this is incorrect. I still get Monthly Updates ("Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool" - which works like a charm) to scan my Windows 7 system for viruses, malware, etc. via MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials). I also receive related "Recommended Security Intelligence Updates". (See below). So BP cannot use those two particular excuses in this mess, because that stance is 100% wrong. (Now I'm sure this makes no difference to them, but stating inaccurate information does to me). No offense meant to Shelby1; I'm sure she is just parroting what she was told to say.

I have played 14 years this July with this OS. Microsoft Windows 7 Support STOPPED on January 14, 2020. So that's OVER 3 years now that I've successfully played Seafight with this OS. No problem for that period of time..why now?

Yes, I agree...however it is obvious to me that SF have taken the easy way out blaming the withdraw of Windows 7 support for their own inadequacies. I also get the Windows security updates!
The broswer option was all but withdrawn when we were forced over to the current Unity System.
It is now, a matter of luck if you can log in via the browser as you virtually always get returned to the 'Join Client' Download option.
With the amount of errors that are encountered with every SF update can any one actually justify a major pc computer to Windows 11...

    Ahoy Pirates!

Please do not open multiple threads regarding the same / similar issue.

Unfortunately such changes to the game has been made (due to recent changes and advancements in technology ->
Client Issue on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 and it is unlikely that these will be reversed.

We understand your frustration however, please remember that you can still access the game via browser.

With all due respect - the correct phrase is:"barely access it". Including multiple times where I spot-checked and my FPS rate was "1"..? How am I supposed to play, Rymar? And my browser has automatically closed on multiple occasions recently. And the lag is so bad I have to wait approximately 5-8 seconds to get back on the water (and I often find myself already sunk).

Please do not treat us like "idiots". And if multiple threads are opened, I think that is your job to combine them or move them or whatever. Just my opinion, but I pay for this game to operate and the salaries of people that work for BP. And therefore, since I have spent many thousands of dollars on this game over 14 years, I would appreciate more respect from you. This is "our game", not yours. Thank you.

For the same reason I left Windows 8.1 and got the Windows 7 Professional edition OS. I like the template used for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP, and Windows 7. And it works perfectly for all of my needs. Except this game, but this game is NOT a "need", just entertainment.

A couple of years ago, I fooled around with Windows 10 on my cousin's pc. I didn't like it, and it reminded me of Windows 8.1. So I certainly don't want to change to Windows 10, even if it's free, in order "to play one video game". (Maybe I should get a Mac...? Oh yeah - Bigpoint has been "working" on that issue now for over five years).

Lastly, but most importantly: many computers experts agree that if you have software that works well for you, and that you have mastered over time (i.e., MS Office), don't upgrade it. It's the old adage: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

    Ahoy!

Thank you for the feedback regarding recent client changes, we understand your frustration and will make sure to pass it onto the appropriate party.

Unfortunately, since there is nothing else that we can add regarding the game client this thread shall now be closed.
