I stated what is shown below, regarding the volcano being confusing (and I'm not the only player - see posts by pirate Bawdyn):

Well - I had no more than 5 minutes warning that it was going dormant when it appeared on my screen, although the ticker showed 2+ hours left. Even if the "2+ hours left" was the "maximum time left", how was I supposed to finish an 800 million hit point npc that I had shot down to 130 million hit points in 5 minutes? There is no way to figure out how much time is left on the volcano at any point in time, unless we are near its maximum duration time.

As previously pointed out the volcano is working as intended.
Regarding pirate glory, please remember that this reward is allocated on a 'small chance' basis, you may shoot twice and get it both times, you may shoot a hundred and not receive it once, that is the nature of a 'chance' reward.

I am shocked! What kind of a reply is this? I'm not trying to have "further discussion" (which is, by the way, an inappropriate way to criticize players for having such a discussion. We aren't violating any rules here, we are seeking information)!!! I'm just trying to get an answer to my question above! Jeepers! Will you please answer my question? I just want to know how can I start shooting an 800 million hit point ship, if I don't know how much time is left on the ticker??? Your getting mad at us won't answer this question, which is important to me, and surely to others, as well. I do appreciate your help, Mr-Amber, but if you have no desire to answer forum questions, please just tell us. I thought this forum was a place to "ask questions" and "exchange ideas". Now I am seriously wondering about both.

As stated previously, The volcano is running as intended and this is how it is and how it is supposed to be.
Your question HAS been answered, So clearly you ARE trying to create further discussion.

No one is getting mad at anyone, you have been given an answer to your question, The fact that you do not like the explanation (This is how the volcano mechanic works, and always has) does not warrant starting new threads repeating the same question just because it is not the reply you want.

I am here to point players in the right direction with queries and give advise as well as making sure forum rules are followed.

It is not mandatory to take part in the volcano section of seafight, it is a choice, If you are unhappy with how the volcano works then the simple answer is to just not participate.
The volcano only appears in a small number of maps so it is easily avoided.

Personally I do not particularly like the rift area, I find it tiresome, boring and repetitive, so I simply do not enter the rift.

Please note that you have previously been warned regarding reposting of questions once closed simply because you do not like the answer or explanation given. Further posts on this subject will result in official forum warnings and could lead to your forum rights being restricted, I will not remind you of this again.
