Unable to complete Something in the Air Quest

I have not had any problems with quests up until this time. I accepted the Something in the Air quest (open 3 event chests and do 5000000 + damage to a Putrid Odette. Initially, I damaged a Putrid Odette and was sure I did at least 5 mill damage, but I went back to the safe harbor to make sure I had done enough before opening the chest. No damage registered at that time. I thought I might have to open the chest 1st, so I bought and opened 3 chests. I hit another Odette (yesterday) and still nothing. This morning, I hit another Odette but still no damage registered. I went back to the same ship just now, did another 5 million plus damage and sunk it. See below:
