WEhat mkind of Voodoo prevents you from locking in ?

A ship with hardly any hit points chased me down and sank me . There was no way I could lock in. What gives ?

 

Perhaps try harder to lock them.

 

I kept trying untill I was sunk, by a ship with practicly 0 hit points

 

Maybe he/she was out-ranging you.

 

I have all the range upgrades in the skill tree plus the 30% boosters and most of the speed upgrades. I mean it's real weird that I could not lock in on him. I haven't had that problem before, in any battle.

 

Your range books might not've been on, you were lagging. You haven't described the situation very well so we'll never know.

 

I had the same problem a few months ago. The most likely reason given to me by the moderator at the time was simply lag.

 

Your mates are correct.
The most common reason for being unable to click on to lock is that lag makes your enemy appear one place, while it has actually moved. The best way to target is use your scroll wheel on your mouse and watch for the yellow target circle to appear.
