Winter Thaw Event 2019​

Event from 17th January until 29th January

​

The Winter Thaw event features the following:

• 4 event ships (three normal and one admiral)
• 1 new group map: Viking's Honor
• Ice Floes
• Event chests
• Event black market
• 5 quest chains with 18 normal and 4 daily quests
• A new ship design: “Freya's Chariot”

The event starts at 12 noon on 17th January and ends on 29th January.

The event has two phases, the second phase (increased NPC spawn) starts at 12 noon on 25th January.

The black market closes at the end of 29th January.

The Ice ammunition melts at 12 noon on 30th January.

All times are local server times.


The Winter Thaw event is a spawn event where you can hunt 4 event ships, “Grumpy Boar”, “Elegant Elk”, “Black Ram” and “Midgard Wyrm” on Sea.

“Grumpy Boar” can be shot with all types of ammunition

“Elegant Elk”, Black Rum and “Midgard Wyrm” must be shot with elite ammunition.

“Elegant Elk” spawns 4 “Black Ram” on death.

“Midgard Wyrm” is an admin event ship which spawn after a certain number of “Grumpy Boar”, “Elegant Elk” and “Black Ram” have been sunk.​

Rewards

• Grumpy Boar:
  • Depending on how much damage you’ve inflicted, you are rewarded with XP and Snow ammunition. The player who inflicts the most damage gains Reputation with Sigurd. There is also a small chance to get one event key for the player who does the last shot.
• Elegant Elk:
  • Depending on how much damage you’ve inflicted, you are rewarded with XP, Pearls and Reputation with Sigurd. The player who inflicts the most damage has a chance to receive Ancient emblems.
• Black Ram:
  • Depending on how much damage you’ve inflicted, you are rewarded with XP, Pearls and Reputation with Sigurd.
• Midgard Wyrm:
  • Depending on how much damage you’ve inflicted, you are rewarded with XP, Pearls and Reputation with Sigurd.
  • The player who inflicts the most damage gets the following rewards: With a big chance, it’s pearls and with a small chance, it’s the new design “Freya's Chariot”. (Fallback 7 Firestorm cannons level 3).

The Ice Floes must be shot with harpoons. Items such as Burning Ice ammunition, Agwen Armor plates, Black powder, Windstorm, Agwe Amulet, Skyfire, Hour Glass and Mojo can be obtained from Ice Floes for the player who does the last shot.

In the Event Treasure Chests you find many useful items, Snow ammunition, Legba Amulets, Tritons Benevolence, Unstoppable, Dragonfire, Crystal and some other action items.

Ammo

Snow ammunition causes more damage against “Grumpy Boar”.
Ice ammunition causes more damage against “Elegant Elk”.
Burning Ice ammunition causes more damage against “Black Ram”, “Midgard Wyrm” and on the group map: “Viking's Honor”.​

Vikings Honor Group Map:

Once you have collected enough ancient emblems you are able to access the “Viking's Honor” from the Safe Haven by speaking to Haldor Olafsson.


After you choose the role you want to play (“Damage Dealer”, “Healer” and Tank”) and the team is full you are teleported to the “Viking's Honor” map where you face the boss “Aegir's Wrath”.

Your goal is to kill “Aegir's Wrath”. “Aegir's Wrath” spawns 8 towers “Ran's Will” (max. 2 at the same time) which spawn “Kolgas”. “Ran's Wills” de-spawn after they have spawned a certain amount of “Kolgas”.

There is a damage zone around “Aegir's Wrath” which grows over the time.

The damage zone reduces when one “Ran's Will” de-spawns. When a “Ran's Will” is destroyed the damage zone is reset and another zone is in the place of the destroyed “Ran's Will” for a certain time which applies a de-buff to “Aegir's Wrath” when he is in the zone.

When all “Ran's Will” are de-spawned or destroyed there is no other ability to reduce the damage zone.

When Aegir's Wrath is dead, the map is finished and you are teleported back to normal map again.

When a player is sunk on the group map, you can´t rejoin the group map and will NOT get any rewards (also no ranking time).

Quests

You can accept quests by speaking to Eona Norling (on the safe haven) and to Sigurd Lundgren (on the safe haven). There are 5 quest chains with 18 normal and 4 daily quests.

New Design

Freya's Chariot (possible loot from Midgard Wyrm and ranking reward)

• Unblemished Ruby: +22% Cannon damage
• Brilliant Rhodolite: +23% Boarding damage
• Unblemished Sodalite: +14,5% Chance to dodge
• Unblemished Azurite: +11% HP repair speed, 44% HP repair value

The event keys will be exchanged for normal chest keys.

 

The event compensation will run tomorrow at 12 noon UTC (1 pm CET).

Due to the very cheap price for the event keys, we´ve decided to changed the ratio, the event keys will be exchanged 1 - 0,5, means for 2 event keys, players will get 1 normal key.

 

The compensation will run tomorrow, not today.

The keys will be changed for the ratio to 1:1 from event keys to normal treasure chest keys
