Boarding mission ships not working.

I'm having problems completing basic missions.

At one point (around 2012?) i was trying to complete pirate test for level 9, but it failed.

Well now i'm back trying to get past that test, but i keep failing to find place to start that test.

I figured out that i need to complete some missions to unlock that test again, but i've had very confusing missions.

In few i had to find "treasure chests" which for some reason had to be opened with paid keys, for which i had to use hours just find enough pearls.

Now i'm having problems with this mission where i'm asked to board some ships.
It seems to be truly impossible. I have all pirates i can fit, i got them geared up and i still can not board those basic low level enemies.

I have even grinted some ships to 1 hitpoint (as pictured below), but it still says that they have too much health to be boarded. What health? they have none left...

I'm getting truly frustrated with this now.
One other major problem i've found is shooting at sea monsters. Normal mission monster has around 16k health, so shooting one down takes 20 minutes of sitting in place with normal harpoons.

 

ooof where to start! A lot of things have changed since 2012 and the game has had a complete makeover.

The boarding system is now different. you have to go to ship equipment and equip all of your pirates and equipment. however for the hp problem, this is where the commanders come in. Commanders give extra boarding value and allow you to board npc's at higher hp amounts.

The level 1 commander allows you to board at 10% hp and the level 2 commander at 50%.
The commanders can be brought from the crew tab in the pirates section of the tavern.

As for the tests and quests, this format has also changed as you have found out, and from my own experience as well as several of my clanmates, utilising the seafight bible pages helps greatly in completing these missions.

As for the slow harpooning of monsters. there's not a lot you can do about the HP unfortunately but there are things to speed it up such as maxing out harpoon reload and damage castles, maxing out harpoon reload and damage on skills and obtaining steel chains to equip in your expansion slots. your clan mates can help with advice on expansions.

The harpoons have not changed. you can still obtain iron harpoons (250 HP damage) on happy hours and mega happy hours and you can obtain steel harpoons (500 HP damage) from doing bonus maps as well as finding them on most happy hours and mega happy hours.

Doing the castles, skills and using chains makes the harpoons most effective and killing monsters much faster.

As an extra note: some quests require collecting items from boarding NPC's. the items don't have a 100% drop chance so if you don't get them after boards you will have to keep boarding the npc's in question, even if you have completed to required number of boards for that npc as another part of that quest.

Only boarding officers i'm able to find can only be bough using pearls which pretty much means that they can only be obtained with real money (which i'm unable to put in to this game) unless i'm to use several days just collecting pearls from sparkles.

If the whole boarding system only works after purchasing ingame currency and that that boarding system is requirement on these pretty low level missions i have to say that the game feels very broken.

By obtaining harpoon during happy hour do you mean that they can be found around the map as a loot?

I'll try to get back in to game, but if i'm unable to basically anything w/o spending real money i'll have to give up. ;/

As your fellow pirate says, a lot has changed since 2012.

First, I would like to invite you to read our Boarding FAQ, this contains a wide amount of information about Boarding that will definitely help you in this situation.

All the Quests and Tests have been changed, and now they provide better rewards. Do not worry, you can complete them too if you so choose. You won't advance in level if you complete the lower level tests, but you will gain some pearls, crystals and cannons among other items. So well worth doing.

If you do not have a Commander, you can complete the Quests: Level 4 - 5 "Null and Void" which will provide you with a Level 1 Commander. Simply start at the first quest provided in that link and work your way down until you have the commander.

Alright, i got the commander and got past those missions.

Now i'm stuck at "Touch of Spice" mission on the part where i'm to collect 3 oriental spices. As far as i understand they are obtained by boarding "hearty cog". Well i have boarded tens of those. I've restarted client several times, redone the missions few times and so on.

Can I ask what your maximum boarding value you can obtain is with your maximum pirates equipment, commander etc equipped?

Mission ship has defence of 2500.

 

Can you post screen shot of your quest requirement box or check your inventory to see if it shows amount required / currently held?

Also have you tried redeeming quest to complete? If so which save haven did you go to ?

Can I also ask, along with the questions Mac has mentioned, do you have more than 1 Quest currently active?

I am aware of a current bug where if you have 2 or 3 Quests active, it is sometimes not possible to gain the Quest Items. If this is the case, please cancel the other quests so you only have the 1 Quest you are trying to complete, and see if this resolves the issue for you.

This bug has already been forwarded and will be fixed as soon as possible.

That's what caused it.

I had to cancel my other mission and cancel & redo the whole touch of spice again for missions items to register.
