Why is it that Forum will look into some Technical questions and reports, usually accompanied by a request of Server and User ID, but refuse to answer others and refuse to forward them to somebody who can? The examples are many and readily apparent in the Forum. Is there some criteria that can be promulgated so that we don't waste time posting here and why are there prefixes for Support, Bug, Feedback, Suggestion, on the prefix drop down? For example if you say it needs to be reported to support why isn't the support drop down prefix used?

    Ahoy,

The reason as to why is mainly because of two reasons; we require information that should not be put on a public forum, or because we do not have the ability to help with that type of query.

Although there is not a definitive list, and due to the wide range of posts we receive it is not feasible to list each individual reason a player should contact support rather than post on the forum.

However, with that said, here are some common reasons we would ask you to write to support and not post it on the forum:

    • Payment related queries
    • Account queries - e.g. lost access to email, not receiving system mails, etc.
    • Reports of players violating the Terms and Conditions
    • Questioning an Account or Forum Ban
    • Reporting of bugs that can be exploited - e.g. if someone was to report a bug how to get millions of crowns that would need to be reported to Support so that other players cannot gain this information and use it
    • Technical queries in which we will require further information which can't be posted on an open forum, for example your computer hardware, or a complex technical query
    • Feedback regarding Support
As mentioned this is not an extensive list, but some of the most common reasons. The forum should generally be used for general questions, boat specific technical queries (e.g. my logbook shows I received Polished Muzzles but I can't see any benefit), feedback, ideas and suggestions and general conversation in the relevant areas.

In regards to the thread prefix's, these come with the forum software provided and do not provide any difference or benefits than them not being used. Each thread creator has the choice to use these when they are creating a thread, however, it is not required.

Why not promulgate a set of Forum Posting Rule/Guidelines similar to the Chat Rules/Guidelines? And I gather from what you are saying the Prefix drop downs are little more than eyewash. Close this please.

There is a set of Forum Posting Rules/Guideline and these can be found here.

As per request this thread will be closed.
