Hardwood beams increase damage received

I've noticed that adding hardwood beams increase the damage I receive (i.e w/o them I receive 724pt dmg, with them 63 beams I get 1043dmg) It's against tencacle which is constant dmg. No info about such thing is mentioned in hardwood beam description

Do you use anything else mixed with hardwood beams?

Yes? Then your hardwood beams decrease the damage prevention / dodge chance bonus received from such extension.

Hardwood beams do not decrease your defence.

What I have is:
6 x lvl 6 reinforced ribs
3 x lvl 5 one-eyed raven
20 x lvl 3 one-eyed raven
4 x lvl 1 one-eyed raven
24 x lvl 0 one-eyed raven
2 x lvl 1 ablative plating
3 x lvl 5 reinforced ribs
2 x lvl 3 reinforced ribs
1 x lvl 2 reinforced ribs

when i add the beams then the situation is as above
