    You can find your Life Preserver within Ship Equipment -> Expansions.

    Life Preserver (depending on the level) provides you with Heal action item bonus, Repair Cannon efficiency and Maximum healing value.

    You can find more detailed information regarding Ship expansions and how these works under the following link ->     Ship Extensions
