    Mouth of Madness Raid Map

What is the Mouth of Madness?

The Mouth of Madness is a server-wide PvE encounter taking place on a dedicated event map Mouth of Paralyzing Dread.

There is no player cap—all eligible players on the server work together to summon and defeat the abyssal world boss, Zoth-Dagon.

How do we unlock the raid map?

The raid map unlocks through a server-wide Soul Offering threshold:
    • Offering Stage: Players collect Souls from event NPCs, event quests, and group maps, then contribute them via the Event Ticker. You can only hold a limited amount of Souls at a time.
    • Timer / Preparation Stage (30 Minutes): Once the server reaches the required Soul threshold, a 30-minute preparation countdown begins. Offering is disabled once the threshold is reached, but you can keep collecting Souls.
    • Raid Stage (30 Minutes): When the countdown finishes, the raid map opens for 30 minutes (or until Zoth-Dagon is defeated).
    • Cooldown Stage (6 Hours): After the raid concludes, a 6-hour cooldown starts before the next offering cycle begins. Offering stays disabled during the cooldown, and the Soul threshold for the next cycle is 10% higher than for the previous one. If the event does not have enough time left for another full cycle, no new cycle starts.
    In short
    • Collect Souls during the event.
    • Offer them through the Event Ticker until the server reaches its goal.
    • When the raid opens, click the Event Ticker to sail to the raid map.

I missed the offering. Can I still join?

Yes. After the server reaches the goal, there are 30 minutes of preparation before the raid opens.

During that time you can still offer 1 Soul to earn your place in the fight.

Who is allowed to enter the Raid Map?

To enter the raid map, you must have contributed Souls during the current cycle’s Offering Stage.

Note: You cannot join the map while in a Safe Haven or while actively taking damage / under attack by NPCs.

If you sink on the raid map, you cannot return until Zoth-Dagon rises again, so enter prepared.

What happens if the server doesn't reach the Soul threshold in time?

If the threshold is not reached within 24 hours, the required amount automatically decays by 5% every 24 hours until the threshold is met (it will never decay below the initial starting threshold).

    Boss Mechanics & Combat

How do the "Gazes" (Eyes & Tentacles) work?

Giant Abyssal Gazes (Eyes) spawn around the edge of the map, surrounded by Tentacles.

When a player enters a Gaze's trigger area, it opens and pulls ships inward with a Maelstrom pull.

While Gazes are active, Zoth-Dagon becomes invisible, immune to damage, and stops boss attacks.

Destroying all surrounding Tentacles closes and dispels the Gaze, making Zoth-Dagon resurface and vulnerable again.

The Gaze itself cannot be destroyed, and it stays open as long as any of its Tentacles are alive.

    What is "Ammo Shift"?

Periodically (every 60 seconds), Zoth-Dagon shifts his vulnerability to a specific ammunition type (Pumpkin, Skull, Explosive, or Flare).

Ineffective ammo will deal no damage and produce a pass-through visual effect.

Watch on-screen banner messages carefully to swap to the correct ammo!

    What are the Hazard Zones?

Zoth-Dagon attacks with large, slow Area of Effect (AoE) zones on the water.

Move out of the marked circle before the cast resolves to avoid heavy damage.

The higher your Paralyzing Dread, the more damage a Hazard Zone deals.

Zoth-Dagon also unleashes a wave attack around himself that damages everyone close to him.

    Paralyzing Dread Debuff & Survival

What is the Paralyzing Dread debuff and what does it do?

Upon entering the raid map, every player starts with 1 stack of Paralyzing Dread.
    • Effect: Paralyzing Dread stacks up to a maximum of 20 times. Each stack makes Zoth-Dagon's Hazard Zones hit harder, slows your ship by 1.25%, reduces your cannon damage by 1.5% and increases your cannon reload time by 1.5%. Higher Paralyzing Dread also makes you more susceptible to Maelstrom pulls, so you are dragged in faster.
    • Gaining Stacks: You gain Paralyzing Dread stacks by staying in close proximity to Zoth-Dagon over time and whenever you take damage from any raid source. Paralyzing Dread stacks by staying within range of Zoth-Dagon (a new stack every 5 seconds) and each time you take damage from any raid source.

How do I reduce or remove Paralyzing Dread?

Retreating: Staying out of Zoth-Dagon's range for 5 seconds removes 1 stack.

Action Item: Using the special action item Mad-Be-Gone™ to reduce accumulated stacks.

Leaving the Map: The debuff is fully cleared upon exiting the raid map.

What happens when Zoth-Dagon reaches low HP ("Last Tide")?

Below 15% HP, Zoth-Dagon enters the enrage phase (Last Tide).

Boss hazard attacks strike twice as frequently (every 5 seconds with dual hazard circles) and Paralyzing Dread stack generation doubles.

    Death, Exiting & Re-entry

Can I respawn if I sink on the Raid Map?

No. Sinking removes you from the raid map and you cannot re-enter for the remainder of that active until Zoth-Dagon rises again.

However, the damage contribution you accumulated before sinking is retained for final bracket rankings.

Can I voluntarily leave the map and come back?

Yes, but leaving applies the lockout debuff for 5 minutes, preventing immediate re-entry.

Once the 5 minutes elapse, you may re-enter if the raid is still active.

Note: You must be on the map at the time of the boss's defeat to receive live end-of-fight drop rewards.

    Who receives the Zoth-Dagon loot?

Boss loot is given only to players who are on the raid map when Zoth-Dagon is defeated.

What happens if the 30-minute timer runs out before Zoth-Dagon is killed?

If time expires before Zoth-Dagon falls, all contributing players receive partial rewards scaled to how much HP the boss had left:
    • 0% – 25% Boss HP remaining: 75% boss loot reward
    • 26% – 50% Boss HP remaining: 50% boss loot reward
    • Above 50% Boss HP remaining: Participation reward only

    Server Restarts & Persistence

What happens if the server restarts during an active raid or offering stage?

Souls Offered: All contributed souls are safely saved and not lost.

Active Raid: The raid timer resets back to the full duration upon server restart, and Zoth-Dagon's remaining HP and damage shares are restored from the database.

Stages & Cooldowns: Continue seamlessly from the remaining time once the server comes back online.
