According to the FAQ Options Overview (Customize the Sea Chart) This option should, when off, stop the silly feature where the map moves with you as you move.

Smooth Map Scrolling: You can decide if the border of the Sea Chart will be moved with sailing on the Sea Chart, or not.

I don't want the map to move with me, I want to manually decide when it moves. After a ship change or a map change or logging in, the map always moves with me and I have to manually move it to get it to stop. Shouldn't having this unchecked stop that from happening? If so, then its broken. If not, then what is the actual purpose of this option?

    Ahoy,

Firstly, the screen will move with your boat after the "To the ship/Center on my ship" button has been pressed. Until you then move the map, it will follow your ship.

The Smooth Map Scrolling option determiners how the screen focuses on your ship. Having this option checked will remove the jaggedness (screen bouncing) when following your ship. It also changes what happens when you press the "To the ship" button; having it checked the screen will gradually move to your ship and center it, having it unchecked and then pressing the button will immediately center your ship.

The FAQ shall be updated to reflect this.

I guess that explains what the option actually does. Is there any way to turn it off entirely? Its real annoying and I never want it active so if it can be turned off, how would I do that? If I can't turn it off, then I guess its off to the suggestion forum to ask for it.

    Ahoy,

Turn off the map following your boat? No you can not turn that off, but the same effect is gained by just slightly moving the map yourself so it is no longer centered on your boat.

I know how to turn it off by manually moving (I mentioned it above ;) ), but sometimes I don't get the chance to do that and I get all messed up by the moving map. I just wish it didn't happen at all, there is no point to it, for me at least. So if it can't be turned off, I'll go and suggest that it be made an option to do that. Thanks for confirming it.
