    Patchday Notes
    There will be updates every week, however not all will be noticeable. Some are small bug fixes, or technical updates in the background.

    On certain days it maybe that we have unannounced restarts, which are different from the normal daily restart. Similarly, it may be noticeable that we have small problems with the Sea Chart or that the homepage is not visible. These problems should be solved by refreshing the page. For bigger updates, it may be a little time before things are fixed and we ask you then for your patience.

    This thread we will use in future to remind you about the Patch Day.

    Game Update 03 December 2013


    Ahoy Pirates

    We are going to publish another patch today (December 3rd) which will address the following issues:

    • 19% Client Login / Disconnect Issue: We have made a few changes that should ensure that the servers will no longer fail responding after a while. As we can only test this under live conditions, we cannot guarantee that the change will solve the problem once and for all.
    • Tablet drop from Frost Chests: We have found out that accidentally the internal ID of the tablet piece was assigned wrongly. We have therefore decided to swap the ID for piece number 1 and piece number two. This way we do not have to make any time-consuming changes to the database, minimizing the potential for further errors. Please note that now pieces from chests will go to position 2 and that pieces from Snowman NPC will go to position 1. We will correct the text later.
    • Loca fix pets: in some languages the description of the pets was not 100% correct. This has been fixed.

    Game Update 04 December 2013

    Ahoy Pirates

    There was another patch release today (4th December) This is what we have implemented:

    • Drop Chance of the Jötnar Pet was way too high. We had to reduce it, so people have a reason to keep playing.
    • Text for the puzzle table page have been corrected (Pos. 1 and Pos. have been swapped)
    • You will now keep your ingame ranking even when you change your name in the game.
    • The Bifröst-Design now gives 40,000 VP instead of 37,500.
    Sorry for the inconvenience but we hope that these fixes will make people happy.

    Hotfix DoT Ammo

    Ahoy Pirates

    Today 17th December, 2013, we released a quick patch for the issue with the “Double Death” issue – meaning that we have fixed an issue with the DoT-Ammo that caused the opponent to die twice.

    This error was fixed in the past but as we started the Gift Chaser event, it came back, this again has now been resolved.

    We had to have a small sync to remove the connection between the forum and the news section on the homepage. This is due to a number of performance issues we are having with the connection between the game and the new forum.

    Patch Day Next Week

    Ahoy Pirates,


    On Monday we will sync the first stage of the AMS system live into Seafight. This is a huge technical update and should be a great improvement to your game experience - more details will be posted about this update on Monday.


    As you have probably noticed, the Clash Event started today and will run until February 19th. Due to the timing of the AMS update and its priority, our main February event will take place nearer the end of the month – more information about this exciting, new event will be revealed nearer the time!

    Ahoy Pirates,

    After the sync this evening we fixed the following bugs:

    · Skyfire explosion action items once again work as they should.

    · Rowers now functioning as intended in the Castle System.

    · Errors with the damage over time ammunition for Burning Ice Ammo and the Kraken’s Tentacle have been fixed.

    · Full amount of pirates can once again be equipped to your ship.

    · Animation for the Brothers in Arms item now fixed.

    We will keep working on fixing the other outstanding bugs which have occurred since the sync on Monday.

    In addition, we understand that the pearl price for repairing sails was rather high – therefore we reduced the repair cost per sail from 150 pearls to 50 pearls.

    Ahoy Pirates,


    With our last sync we fixed the following bugs:


    · The mojo deck is now correctly booked when you receive it as an end rewards from the Cancer Bonus Map.

    · Cannon range for a newly created account now correct

    · Logging out during a Pirate Test no longer means you have to start from the beginning

    · Rowers in the Castle Upgrade now work correctly

    · Skyfire explosion speed reduction once again has an effect against players

    Ahoy Pirates,

    With the sync today we fixed the following bugs:

    · Snowmen now work as intended

    · Lost Love action item now works as intended

    · Guild Tags now visible on islands

    · Pirate level increases after completion of tests

    · Map freezing should no longer occur

    · Exploit with pearl and gold ammo has been fixed.

    We have also made some alterations to the speed – you can find out more here.

    After the sync today we will fix the following:

    · Exploit with gold ammo fixed
    · Pirate Test now working as intended
    · Missing Golden Rider designs automatically booked upon purchase (those who didn’t receive it now have it booked by script)
    · Guild Towers can once again be fired at as intended

    Ahoy Pirates,

    Today 26th February, we fixed the following bugs:

    · Heal cannon range now working as intended

    · Spawn rate of Calypso now as intended (a 5% chance of spawning after Odysseus is sunk)

    We have also synced a performance fix so hopefully the servers will be working better than they have been over the last week or two.

    Ahoy Pirates,


    We have sync again which should solve the problem where some NPCs are unable to move on the sea. In addition, we have received emails about the Light of Tortuga which we are currently investigating.


    Regarding the reason for today’s sync, the main changes we made were major performance improvements with the server so hopefully they will not be as laggy and have so many blocks compared to the previous two weeks.

    Ahoy Pirates,

    With the sync today we fixed the problem where some players were unable to shoot with cannons unless sailing directly above the enemy.

    In addition, due to the feedback received about the Typhon Eel we have changed the mechanic of how the rewards are distributed. From now on, there is no required threshold you need to achieve before receiving a share of the pearls depending on how much damage you have made against Typhon. Because of this change, the pet will now be distributed to the players who make the most damage and last shot against Typhon. If a player already has the low-level pet and makes the most damage or last shot they will receive the high-level pet. If you already have both pets you will receive Kraken Ammo for each additional time you make the last shot or most damage against Typhon.

    We are aware of the problem with the Quest Giver not working. We are looking into it now to see if we can fix it tonight.

    Ahoy Pirates,

    We are aware of several problems that have occurred since the sync this evening. Regarding the Congestion Error problem, if you get this please wait a few minutes before logging back into the Sea Chart. If you get sunk, please close the Sea Chart completely and then try opening it back up again rather than clicking to repair your ship automatically – it may take a couple of attempts before this works.

    We apologise for all the inconvenience caused and are working on fixing the most critical issues that arise.

    Ahoy Pirates,

    As announced last week, tomorrow we will sync the new death mechanic into the game. The planned sync time is 11am (CET) and due to the size of this update it could result in a period of downtime for approximately 1 hour.


    As some of you have noticed on the open beta server, the new death mechanic doesn’t appear a lot different from the way it works now. After the sync, when you are sunk you will see an option to either repair your ship or to close the client (Sea Chart). The main difference you will notice is that it will appear as though your ship has been transferred to a different map (called Nimbus) – however by clicking to return to the sea chart you will once again appear on the Sea Chart to a random position on the water as previously, (or back to the main Sea Chart if you were on a different map).


    However, although this update doesn’t seem that big, it is actually a huge behind-the-scenes change which should hopefully improve your game play and the general server performance in the future.
