Just curious about the Deaths fight Arena, and maybe i missed it but is it PVE or PVP?

PvP, each team have 15 "lives" once you get sunk your team lose one.

Once your team hit 0 - map is lost.

There are no coordinates in the quest. It says "Defeat Colin Barnes", and "Return to the quest giver Colin Barnes". That is all it says. How do I do this quest???

 

I had coordinates when I got that quest. Have you tried cancelling the quest and starting it again?

If there are no coordinates that mean you've sailed there already and missed / ignored the NPC that spawned.

Visit the same quest-giver once again and cancel your quest, leave it for few minutes and accept it again (full logout would be best once several minutes have passed). This will allow the game to reset your coordinate progression.

Once completed make sure that you sink the NPC that spawn on set coordinate.

One Question:
(1) I may have found them by accident without knowing, or I never found the secret quests, did anybody find them, and how were they? What rewards?


Much feedback from a new player/returning after a long time player:

(1) Pretty good event experience PvE, I hadn't played for years and was able to get back in and obtain some decent cannons pretty fast to participate. The free to play experience (PVE) is a lot better than it used to be. I can shoot event ships and actually make pearls , buy more ammo and shoot more ships. In the past (early 2010s), I never felt like I was earning pearls during events - have players always been able to do this? Maybe only those with elite cannons at the time? I only had a few elite cannons, and mostly gold cannons back then.

(2) There's definitely an impression that the long-time players are immortal death machines. I shoot basically 0 damage on them and they can destroy me in 1 or 2 shots. They have millions of HP. PvP is, if anything, actually a worse experience than I remember for a casual player. However, I am curious, which leads me to my next question:

(3) What is the power-difference between a dedicated free-player and a paying player at this time? It seems like a dedicated ftp pirate could obtain a full set of thunderbolt cannons, and buy all the weapon expansions/skills and castles. What then, will they lack, compared to player that buys the latest and greatest offerings?

(4) I found a bot account that was collecting event treasure chests endlessly. He had a much stronger account, but I sank him many times by simply following him around and slowly whittling down his HP. He had already been caught and was sporting (I believe) the highest bot emblem obtainable. What happens to bot accounts that repeatedly get caught these days? I felt like I saw precious few bots compared to the past during this event.

 

How do you identify a boat as a "Bot". I never know...

 

Next the boat's name there is a badge with a pirate's face and a glowing eye. It means they have been warned, caught and punished for botting

In past you could tell the difference between special and regular quests by their small icon image - secret had a magnifying glass as a picture.

Within this event I do believe the "Deliver 6 Castaways" was considered a secret one, although I am not 100% sure on that part.

The game evolved in a good way, as you've noted it is much easier to accomplish something within the game without much of an investment, and I do believe there is more to come as we are slowly moving closer to the B-day event (March ).

If you have enough time and patience then there is not much of a difference between you and other players (especially now when thunderbolts can be obtained so easily), everything takes time. The major difference hmmm captains and gems I guess.

When it comes to PvP everything depends on your pre-set and what your opponent had activated at the moment of your fight.

I personally doubt that you have seen max scar player on the game, but what happen next is not pleasant I must say.

I found the announcement , looks like he had Scar 3, so one more to go, not quite maxed out. Either the scar has truly stopped botters or people are getting away with it, because he is the only one I saw with the botter badge during the whole event. All caught players are forced to show the badge too right? It cannot be hidden?
