Aura malfunction

This has occurred the last two days in a row and I'm wondering if the rules have changed? I activated an Aura of protection in order to shoot a Drowned Wraith. As you know, guild boats shoot at the DWs and lure them into their islands to put them out of reach of other boats (you'd get shot by towers if you got too close and were unprotected non-guild, non-aura). It has always been true that auras protected you from towers as well as PVP. But the last two days in a row I went at a DW in the guild's island and the towers shot at me and my aura disappeared - I lost it after a minute of activation! Today it was in map 33/2. I was targeted onto the DW and did NOT shoot at any other player or tower. Here's my log from the time I activated the aura of protection to the time I had to use Tortuga in order to protect my boat, approximately one minute, you can see that I was not in a fight:

So what is going on here? Again, this happened yesterday too, so have the rules changed to allow towers to attack an aura-protected boat? Thank you

 

This is a fairly recent change (Jun 11) and it's a bad one. I think (not sure) it only happens if you are on the enemy list of the guild holding the island or possibly also if you were already attacked in the island by a player that triggered the island to also fire (not sure how long the island 'remembers' that). Your fellow pirate is correct. Changes were made to the aura of protection and were announced in the forum as they have indicated.

Thank you, Bawdyn. I agree that this is a bad change. Not really an "aura of protection" if it doesn't protect you, right? Too bad. They had finally given us a chance to compete, and now here we go again, they take it away. Bogus. BTW, the link you provided to Discussion doesn't work, goes to "Hmmm, can't reach this page". I'll find it manually on the patch notes page. The link to the 6/11/25 rule change notes did work, however. Thanks again, mate.
