The Equipment sub-menu shows some different equipment you can use for your account.

Armour, Pistols and Cutlasses are all used to equip your pirates. Chains are required for certain Quests. Keys are used to open up Treasure Chests found on the Sea-Chart, and Special Items are various Action Items which are available.
